Synopsis

ACR X TCASII TA RA HAD POSSIBLE LTSS FROM ACFT EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN CLB.

Narrative

WITH ME FLYING AND THE FO TALKING ON RADIO; ACR X INBOUND ON ARR OVER LDN AND AML; DSNDING TO 15000 FT. AS WE TURNED TOWARD LDN; WE RECEIVED FREQ CHANGE TO IAD. DURING THIS PROCESS WE RECEIVED A TA ON TFC AHEAD AND SLIGHTLY R; BELOW AND CLBING. I LOOKED FOR THE TFC; BUT VERY QUICKLY THE TA BECAME AN RA; REDUCE DSCNT THEN CLB. I DISENGAGED AUTOPLT AND FLEW MANUALLY. WE ENDED UP AT 15600 FT TO 15700 FT BEFORE HEARING CLR OF CONFLICT. I THEN WENT BACK TO 15000 FT. DURING THE RA AND MY MANEUVERING TO COMPLY; THE FO CHKED IN WITH IAD APCH AND ADVISED THEM WE WERE WORKING AN RA. THE CTLR ISSUED THE USUAL DIRECT AML; BUT INSTEAD OF ACCEPTING THE CLRNC; THE FO TOLD HIM WE WERE STILL COMPLYING WITH AN RA AND TO STAND BY. AFTER CLR OF CONFLICT; HE ADVISED THE CTLR WHO REISSUED DIRECT AML AND ISSUED A DSCNT. HE THEN GOT AFTER US FOR NOT COMING TO HIS FREQ SOONER; THAT HE COULD HAVE TURNED US DIRECT AML IN TIME TO MISS THE TFC. THE FO TOLD HIM THAT WE HAD COME AS SOON AS WE WERE ISSUED THE CHANGE AND THAT IF HE HAD A PROB; THAT WAS WHO TO GET AFTER. SOMEWHERE DURING THIS TIME; I MADE A XMISSION REVIEWING FOR THE CTLR THAT WHEN WE CAME TO HIM WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF COMPLYING WITH AN RA AND THAT WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CHANGING COURSE UNTIL THE RA WAS OVER. THE CTLR UNDERSTOOD; BUT WAS VERY SNIDE WITH HIS NEXT COUPLE OF XMISSIONS.
