CAPT OF AN LGT ROLLED FORWARD INTO TOW BAR AFTER PUSH BACK PRIOR TO COMPANY GND PERSONNEL SIGNAL FOR RELEASE OF ACFT CTL.

Narrative

I LET THE ACFT ROLL FORWARD BEFORE BEING SALUTED BY PUSH CREW. THE ACFT MOVED A FEW INCHES AND AS I UNDERSTAND IT MY NOSE TIRE TOUCHED THE TIRE OF THE TOW BAR. I DID NOTE THIS AND RESET THE BRAKES. I'LL SAY FOR THE PUSH CREW; THEY ALWAYS SALUTE AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD ABOUT ONE SEEING THE SALUTE AND WAITING FOR A RETURN. FOR MY PART I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT MY TYPICAL PUSH AT THIS LOCATION. AFTER RESETTING THE BRAKES TO REMOVE BAR THEY QUICKLY RESPOND THAT JOB IS COMPLETE; IE; STEERING PIN REPLACED. THEY UNPLUG AND STAY OUT OF SIGHT UNDER THE SHIP FOR WHAT SEEMS FOREVER TO ME. I'VE BEEN KEEPING MYSELF AWARE OF THIS FOR CAUTION'S SAKE. THIS TIME THOUGH THERE WAS A SHIP PUSHED POSSIBLY BLOCKING ME. THERE WERE THE CHKLISTS; THE DEBATE ABOUT THE OTHER SHIP AND I DECIDED I COULD GET AROUND IT. THERE WAS A CALL FOR TAXI AND THEN THE HAPPENSTANCE. I'VE BEEN THROUGH THE SAME LOCATION ONE MORE TIME; DIFFERENT CREW; DIFFERENT TIME OF DAY; AND ONLY 15 SECOND FLYING UNPLUG TO SALUTE. I SEE THAT I NEED TO MAKE THIS PART OF MY OP A REALLY BIG DEAL.
