Synopsis

WRONG INFO ON THE FLT PLAN CAUSED AN ACR TO DIVERT LAND UNNECESSARILY.

Narrative

WE WERE INFORMED BY GANDER ATC THAT WE WERE TO LAND IN YQX AND TO CONTACT THE COMPANY. WHEN IN TOUCH WITH THE COMPANY; WE WERE TOLD OUR MAIN AND ALTERNATE FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYS WERE INOPERABLE IN THE FORWARD CARGO BIN. WE WERE THEN INSTRUCTED TO LAND AND OFF LOAD ALL CARGO IN THE FORWARD BIN. WE INFORMED THE COMPANY THAT THE SHIP'S LOGBOOK MAINT CARRY OVER READ ONLY FORWARD ALTERNATE SYS DISCHARGE INOPERABLE. THIS WAS VERIFIED BY A TEST DURING PREFLT CHK THAT ONLY THE ALTERNATE WAS INOPERABLE. CHK OF ARMS MANUAL INSURED THAT COMPLIANCE WITH MEL; ACTUAL LOGBOOK WRITE-UP HAD BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. THE COMPANY REITERATED THAT BOTH MAIN AND ALTERNATE SYS WERE INOPERABLE. WE LANDED IN GANDER AS INSTRUCTED AND OFF LOADED ALL CARGO IN FORWARD BIN. WE THEN PROCEEDED TO MAN. THE FLT PLAN REMARKS STATED THAT THE MAIN AND ALTERNATE SYS WERE OUT. WE ARE INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW WHAT THE LOGBOOK READS. THERE IS A DELAY IN DISCREPANCIES BEING REMOVED FROM THE FLT PLAN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 310857: THE PROB WAS THAT THE FLT PLAN INFO WAS INACCURATE AS TO WHICH MCO WAS PLACARDED. THE COMPANY (DISPATCH/FLT CTL) THOUGHT BOTH SYS WERE INOP DUE TO A SIMPLE CODE NUMBER TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR. CORRECTIVE ACTION WOULD BE A CLOSER LOOK THAT LOGBOOK MCO'S ARE CORRECTLY ANNOTATED AND DESCRIBED ON DISPATCH FLT PLANS.
