ACR WAS UNABLE TO ACCEPT A CLRNC WHEN THE WAYPOINTS COULD NOT BE LOCATED ON THEIR MAPS. LATER; THEY DISCOVERED THAT THEIR OLD MAPS WERE STILL CURRENT; BUT THEY HAD THROWN THEM AWAY WHEN THEY HAD CHANGED TO THE NEW MAPS WHICH WERE NOT CURRENT YET. THE FLC PICKED UP THE OLD MAPS UPON ARR AT JFK.
ON NOV/XX/95 FLT FROM SJU TO JFK AN ATC ROUTING/CLRNC WAS NOT ACCEPTED BY THE CAPT DUE TO POOR COMS AND CONFUSION ABOUT CURRENT ENRTE CHART DEPICTION OF AIRWAY WAYPOINTS. APCHING KRAFT INTXN; SJU CTR CHANGED OUR CLRNC FROM AMBER 300 TO AMBER 523. THE ORIGINAL CLRNC AND FILED FLT PLAN WAS A300. UPON RECEIVING THE NEW CLRNC THE CREW CHKED THE COMMERCIAL HIGH ALT AIRWAY CHART 5/6 FOR THE NEW RTE AND FOUND THE NAMED INTXNS ALONG A523 DID NOT MATCH THOSE IN THE ATC CLRNC. THE CREW WAS REFERRING TO CHARTS DATED OCT/XX/95 AND DID NOT NOTICE THE NEW CHARTS WERE NOT EFFECTIVE UNTIL NOV/XX/95. BY THE TIME THE CREW DISCOVERED WHY THE CLRNC DID NOT MATCH THE NEW ATC CLRNC; VHF RADIO COVERAGE WITH SJU CTR WAS LOST AND HF RADIO COVERAGE WITH NY COMMERCIAL RADIO WAS ESTABLISHED. NY COMMERCIAL RADIO SUBSEQUENTLY REVISED THE CLRNC TO THE ORIGINALLY FILED RTE OF A300; BUT AT A LOWER ALT THAN ORIGINALLY FILED. THE ORIGINAL AND FILED RTE WAS THEN FLOWN; BUT AT THE REVISED ALT. POOR HF RADIO COMS PREVENTED THE CREW FROM EXPLAINING THE CREW'S REQUEST FOR MAINTAINING THE ORIGINAL ROUTING ALONG A300.
