ACR NON ADHERENCE TO ATC CLRNC SID DEP.
GIVEN PERNO 8H; RWY 10; READBACK OK AND THOROUGHLY BRIEFED. ON DEP; WHEN GIVEN SECOND DEP FREQ OF 120.95; THE CTLR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. WE WERE GIVEN A CLB FROM FL110 TO FL140. AT APPROX 20 DME FROM PARIS (CDG) WE ASKED FOR DIRECT TO MMD; AND MOMENTARILY TURNED TO 120 DEGS (ABOUT 30 DEGS R OF INTENDED COURSE) ON THE MARGY 8H; RWY 10 SID WHICH I MISTOOK AS THE ORIGINAL SID CLRNC WHILE TRYING TO PICK UP AND UNDERSTAND OUR INSTRUCTIONS. THE CTLR ASKED OUR HDG AND IF WE WERE GOING TO MARGY. I SAID 120 DEGS AND YES BUT MEANT TO SAY TO PERNO. HE SAID WE WERE IN RADAR CONTACT; TURN TO 070 DEGS. HE THEN ASKED IF OUR DEST WAS FRA? I SAID YES; AND HE SAID TO CLB TO FL220; THEN AMENDED IT TO FL170; THEN A FREQ CHANGE TO 121.15 WAS GIVEN. THAT NEXT CTLR SAID TO GO BACK TO THE PREVIOUS CTLR. UPON RECHKING-IN WITH HIM; HE SAID TO IMMEDIATELY CLB TO FL200 AND TFC WAS AT 11 O'CLOCK AND FL180. WE DID SO AND SAW THE TFC. HE THEN SAID TO GO TO LUXIE; I SAID WE WOULD; AND THEN A MIN LATER; SAID TO GO TO LUXIE AGAIN. ALL XMISSIONS WERE REPEATED EXACTLY AND WITH OUR CALL SIGN; AS I ALWAYS DO. HE AGAIN ASKED US IF WE WERE GOING TO FRA AS OUR DEST; AS IT WAS; AND I ACKNOWLEDGED. WE WERE THEN HANDED OFF AND CLBED TO FL290. REST OF TRIP UNEVENTFUL. BOTTOM LINE -- IN THE 'HEAT OF BATTLE' LISTEN TO WHAT I AM SAYING; IE: SAYING WE WERE GOING TO MARGY; WHEN I MEANT PERNO; I REALIZED MY MISTAKE ABOUT SAYING THE WRONG NAME; BUT DID NOT TRY TO EXPLAIN TO THE CTLR; TO KEEP XMISSIONS SHORT AND BECAUSE ALREADY WE WERE IN RADAR CONTACT AND ON NEW HDG ASSIGNED. ALSO; I RECOMMEND TO TAKE THE CDG SID'S AND KEEP EACH ONE TOGETHER; NOT SPLITTING THEM UP ON THE PAGE SO YOU HAVE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR CONTINUATION OF INSTRUCTIONS. I AM FAMILIAR WITH THESE SIDS; (HAVE BEEN FOR OVER 1 1/2 YRS) BUT THEY ARE STILL POORLY LAID OUT ON PAPER.
