THE RPTR HAD A GEAR UP LNDG WITH THE LNDG GEAR INDICATING IN THE DOWN POS AS PER THE GREEN GEAR DOWN LIGHTS. THE RPTR LOST HIS RADIOS DURING THE APCH TO LNDG.

Narrative

AROUND XX00 AM I WAS DEPARTING O8S TO PRACTICE TKOF AND LNDGS. ON DOWNWIND I EXTENDED MY LNDG GEAR AND GOT A DOWN AND GREEN INDICATION. I THEN SET 9 DEGS OF FLAPS AS I WAS TURNING BASE. I THEN NOTICED NO SIDETONE IN MY HEADSET; WHEN ANNOUNCING MY POS. I CHKED THE RADIO AND NOTICED THE ENTIRE AVIONICS STACK WAS WITHOUT PWR. I CHKED THE GENERATOR SWITCH (ON); AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS (ALL IN). BY THIS TIME I WAS ON SHORT FINAL AND DID A 'GUMP CHK' (FUEL PUMP ON; UNDERCARRIAGE DOWN AND LOCKED; MIXTURE RICH; PROP FORWARD). NOT KNOWING THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN AND LOCKED I EXECUTED A LNDG AND SLID ABOUT 400 FT. NO INJURIES. ACFT DAMAGE MINIMAL. (PROP BENT; ADF ANTENNA BROKE; BELLY RASH.) EVEN AFTER I SLID IN; THE 'DOWN AND GREEN' LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED! CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED AS OF THIS DATE HE DOES NOT KNOW WHY THE GEAR INDICATED DOWN AND WAS NOT. HE STATED THE COMANCHE HAS A REPUTATION FOR GEAR PROBS. JUST THIS WEEK THE REPAIRS WERE COMMENCED AND AS YET NO EXPLANATION FOR THE ERRONEOUS INDICATION. THIS AIRPLANE IS OWNED BY THE RPTR. THE RPTR HAS SINCE THE RPT GOTTEN HIS PVT LICENSE.
