AN SMA NEARLY MISSED A TAILDRAGGER DURING TKOF. THE POTENTIAL CONFLICT WAS NOTICED SHORTLY AFTER THE INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT PLT'S ACFT TOOK OFF. THE RPTR WAS FORCED TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION; AVOIDING TREES.

Narrative

DURING FLT TRAINING XCOUNTRY WITH A PVT PLT APPLICANT; WE CONDUCTED AN UNCTLED FIELD ENTRY AT X01 WITH PROPER RADIO COMS. THE CURRENT WIND CONDITIONS INDICATED BY THE WIND SOCK FAVORED EITHER RWY 15 OR RWY 33 BECAUSE IT WAS A DIRECT XWIND OF ABOUT 5 KTS. MY STUDENT SELECTED RWY 33 AND FLEW THE APPROPRIATE PATTERN FOR ENTRY FOR L TFC FOR RWY 33. AFTER LNDG WE ANNOUNCED ON THE RADIO WE WERE BACK TAXIING ON THE RWY FOR TKOF ON RWY 33. AT THAT TIME WE TURNED THE ACFT AROUND AND STOPPED. WE CLRED THE AREA ANNOUNCED ON THE RADIO WE WERE TAKING OFF RWY 33. AT THE TIME OF ROTATION WE SAW A CESSNA TAILDRAGGER (HIGH WING) IN A R TURN TO FINAL RWY 15. THE RWY LENGTH AT X01 IS 2400 FT. THE TKOF DISTANCE UNDER THE CONDITIONS AT THE TIME (GND ROLL) APPROX 1350 FT. THE OTHER ACFT DID NOT MAKE ANY ACTION TO AVOID OUR ACFT. UNDER THE CONDITIONS THE DECISION WAS MADE THAT IT WAS TOO LATE TO ABORT THE TKOF SINCE WE ALREADY HAD ROTATED AND WERE AIRBORNE. THE END OF THE RWY TERRAIN IS WATER. ON THE UPWIND WE IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO DEVIATE TO THE R AT A LOWER THAN NORMAL ALT AS ALLOWED BY AVOIDING THE TREES. THE CESSNA WOULD NOT DEVIATE TO HIS R WHICH CAUSED US TO ALTER OUR FLT PATH. THE OTHER ACFT CONDUCTS SIGHT SEEING TOURS AT THIS ARPT. THERE WAS NO USE OF LNDG LIGHTS NOR RADIO COMS ON THE PART OF THE CESSNA. THE RWY HAS TREES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RWY.
