THE RPTR FLEW INTO THE CLASS B AIRSPACE WITHOUT A CLRNC. THE RPTR FEELS THE DESIGN OF THE AIRSPACE IS CONFUSING WITH THE 30 NM MODE C ARC LOCATED FARTHER AWAY FROM DENVER THAN THE 30 DME CLASS B ARC. THE 30 DME CLASS B ARC IS SHOWN AS 30 DME ARC AT THE S SIDE OF THE CHART DEPICTION AND NOT ON THE N SIDE.

Narrative

JUST S OF GREELEY; AT 9500 FT; I CONTACTED DENVER APCH AND REQUESTED PERMISSION TO TRANSITION 'CLASS B' TO CENTENNIAL. APCH ASSIGNED A SQUAWK; ADVISED THAT I 'ALREADY WAS IN CLASS B;' DIRECTED ME TO DSND TO 8000 FT; AND VECTORED ME TO CENTENNIAL; WHERE I ARRIVED ABOUT 10 MINS LATER. ONCE ON THE RAMP; GND ADVISED THAT I HAD BEEN REQUESTED TO CONTACT THE SUPVR OF DEN APCH; WHICH I PROMPTLY DID UPON ARRIVING AT THE HANGAR. THE SUPVR ADVISED THAT I HAD ENTERED CLASS B ON ITS NORTHERN EDGE WITHOUT A PRIOR CLRNC. HE ALSO SAID THAT THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT OR OTHER PROB; BUT SIMPLY WANTED TO ADVISE ME OF THE NEW LIMITS (NOW A 30; NOT 20; MI CIRCLE) OF CLASS B. UPON LOOKING AT THE TCA CHART; I ALLOWED THAT I 'GUESSED' THAT HE WAS RIGHT; ALTHOUGH THE CHART IS VERY CONFUSING WITH ITS 2 30-MI NON CONCENTRIC (ONE A CLASS B; THE OTHER A MODE C) CIRCLES; GENERALLY EMANATING FROM THE DEN (117.9) AND FALCON (116.3) VORS. IT APPEARED AS IF I HAD VENTURED ABOUT 1 OR 2 MI INTO THE CLASS B CIRCLE ON THE N END BEFORE TURNING W; WHILE AWAITING THE SQUAWK ASSIGNMENT. THE FLOOR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE AT THAT POINT IS 8000 FT; I WAS 9500 FT. CLRLY; MEA CULPA.
