AN FA22 FLC DID NOT RECEIVE A L MAIN GEAR EXTENSION LIGHT (GREEN) AFTER SELECTING THE GEAR DOWN. THE CAPT CHKED THE GEAR LIGHT TEST FUNCTION AND A FLY-BY WAS PERFORMED; BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO EXCHANGE THE LIGHT BULBS BECAUSE HE WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE COVER PLATE.
ON FINAL APCH INTO BOI WE EXTENDED THE LNDG GEAR AND NOTICED THAT THE L MAIN GREEN (SAFE) LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. (NO GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT; EITHER.) I PRESSED THE 'PUSH TO TEST' BUTTON ON THE LNDG GEAR LIGHT PANEL AND ALL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED EXCEPT THE L MAIN GREEN (SAFE) LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE BULB WAS BURNED OUT. HOWEVER; TO ALLOW MORE TIME TO CONSULT WITH MY FO AND TO POSSIBLY CHANGE BULBS I ASKED THE TWR IF WE COULD OVERFLY THE RWY AND ENTER THE TFC PATTERN. THE TWR APPROVED AND I CONSULTED WITH MY FO. AFTER CONSULTING FOR A MOMENT; WE DECIDED TO CONFIRM WITH THE TWR THAT THE LNDG GEAR WAS EXTENDED. HE REPLIED THAT THE GEAR DID APPEAR EXTENDED. I STATED THAT WE BELIEVED IT WAS ONLY A BURNED OUT LIGHT BULB. I DID ATTEMPT TO CHANGE BULBS ON DOWNWIND BUT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE COVER PLATE OVER THE BULB. DESPITE THIS; BOTH OF US FELT CERTAIN THAT THE GEAR WAS ENTIRELY SAFE AND LOCKED. THE TWR LATER ASKED IF WE NEEDED ANY ASSISTANCE STANDING BY AND I REPLIED NEGATIVE. THE TWR AGAIN STATED THE GEAR APPEARED DOWN AND WE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER LNDG IN BOI MAINT CHANGED THE LIGHT BULBS AND WE CONTINUED THE NEXT LEG OF OUR TRIP.
