AGRICULTURAL PLT ON SOWING MISSION ENTERS CLASS D AIRSPACE WITHOUT CONTACT.

Narrative

I WAS DOING AGRICULTURAL WORK OUT OF THE PJY ARPT SOWING SOYBEANS IN WHEAT. WE WERE WORKING OFF OF PLAT BOOKS AND USING FLAGGERS ON THE GND. AS THE DAY WENT ON; I WORKED FURTHER S AND HAVING TROUBLE FINDING MY FLAGGER. WHEN I LOCATED HIM I PROCEEDED TO SPREAD THE LOAD. ON ONE OF THE LAST PASSES I SAW A CESSNA 152 NEAR BY ABOUT 1000 FT TO MY R. AT THAT TIME I ALSO SAW MDH ARPT ABOUT 1 MI SSW OF MY POS AND REALIZED IT WAS A TWR CTLED FIELD. I DID MY END RUN AND LEFT. I DEPARTED TO THE N TOWARD PJY AT ABOUT 200 FT AGL; WANTING TO GET OUT OF THE CTL ZONE AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE. ALL OF A SUDDEN I SAW A CESSNA TO MY R ABOUT 200 FT AWAY GOING THE SAME DIRECTION AS ME; SO I STEERED L A LITTLE. THEN THE OTHER PLANE TURNED AND LEFT. WHEN I GOT TO PJY WE CALLED THE TWR ON THE TELEPHONE TO TELL THEM WE HAD GOT IN THEIR AREA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD MY NUMBER AND HAD RPTED ME TO SPRINGFIELD FSDO; BUT OFFERED TO LET ME DO THE FIELDS IN THEIR CTL ZONE IF I CALLED BEFORE WE STARTED AND AFTER WE FINISHED. WE FINISHED THE NEXT DAY THEN SAME ON THE NEXT WITH NO PROB. THEN THE FARMERS ARRIVED AT THE PJY ARPT AND STARTED TELLING ME ABOUT THE CESSNA CHASING ME THROUGH THE FIELD. I HAD NOT BEEN AWARE OF THIS SO I CALLED CARBONDALE TWR AND TALKED TO THE SUPVR AND SHE SAID THE PERSON IN THE CESSNA HAD PERMISSION TO GO UP IN THE ACFT AND GET MY NUMBER (12 INCH LETTERS). SHE DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE ME THE NAME OF THE PLT. I HAD ADMITTED MY ERROR AND REALIZE I SHOULD NOT HAVE RELIED ON THE FARMER'S MAP WITHOUT KEEPING CLOSER WATCH ON MY SECTIONAL CHART. WE DID WORK TOGETHER TO FINISH THE JOB AND EVERYONE WAS VERY COOPERATIVE. THIS IS MY 21ST SEASON SPRAYING AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROB LIKE THIS BEFORE AND WILL WORK HARD TO NOT HAVE ONE AGAIN. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THE TWR WAS SO QUICK TO GIVE ME A VIOLATION AND THAT SOMEONE GAVE PERMISSION FOR A PLT TO CHASE ME TO GET THE NUMBER WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS WHERE WE WERE WORKING FROM. THAT PLT PUT HIMSELF AND ME IN DANGER WHEN HE FOLLOWED ME THROUGH THE FIELD ON A SPRAY RUN WITHOUT MY KNOWING HE WAS BEHIND ME. MY ERROR WAS NOT INTENTIONAL; HIS WAS. 2 WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT.
