FLC OF AN MLG DIVERTED TO LAND AFTER CABIN ATTENDANTS AND PAX WERE INJURED BY SEVERE TURB. THOSE INJURED WERE TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL FOR EXAMINATION. NO INJURIES WERE CONSIDERED SERIOUS.

Narrative

ENRTE ELP-ORD ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURB AT FL330 35 NM N OF CDS AT XA12Z. CAPT ADVISED OKC OPS THAT HE WAS DIVERTING TO OKC AND REQUIRED PARAMEDICS. OKC CONTACTED DISPATCH AT XX17Z. FLT LANDED OKC AT XX24Z AND WAS NOT OVERWT FOR THE LNDG. CAPT CONTACTED DISPATCH; ONCE ON THE GND; AND ADVISED THAT HE HAD THE SEAT BELT SIGN ON ABOUT 2 MINS PRIOR TO THE TURB; AND THE FLT ATTENDANTS WERE THROWN INTO THE OVERHEADS/CEILING. 2 FLT ATTENDANTS AND 7 PAX WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR OBSERVATION. RELEASED LATER AND NO APPARENT SERIOUS INJURY. FLT ON JUN/FRI/96; ELP-ORD WAS RELEASED BY ANOTHER DISPATCHER; WHOM I RELIEVED AT XX15Z AND APPEARS ROUTING OVER AMA HAD SCATTERED TO BROKEN TSTMS AT THE TIME THE RELEASE WAS COMPLETED. ROUTING WAS ELP-SUMMY-CME J26 IRK-BDF-ORD. RELEASE HAD ADDITIONAL FUEL FOR POSSIBLE ENRTE TSTM DEV. FLT SCHEDULED TO DEPART ELP AT XX55Z. CAPT ADVISED THAT ATC GAVE HIM DIRECT CDS-IRK. THE FLT WAS SENT SEVERAL SIGMETS ON THE ACTIVITY WHICH INCLUDED AREA OF TSTMS IN THE CDS REGION.
