ACFT EQUIP PROB. RADIO COM INTERMITTENT. PLT HAD PROBS BOTH IN THE AIR AND ON THE GND. RPTR FAULTS THE CTLRS AT ONE FAC APPARENTLY BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED RPTR WAS UNCOOPERATIVE. SMA.
RPTED 10 NM NE OF BDR FOR LNDG. THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HEAR XMISSION VERY CLR. CALLED AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME TO RPT 3 MI FINAL FOR RWY 24. I CONTINUED INBOUND AND REALIZED I WAS NOT SET UP FOR A 3 MI FINAL; BUT WAS SET UP FOR A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 29. I REQUESTED THIS AND THEY TOLD ME TO ROCK MY WINGS SO THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHICH ACFT I WAS. THEY THEN GAVE ME A MI R BASE FOR RWY 24 AND WAS CLRED TO LAND. AFTER A BRIEF (15 MINS) REST ON THE GND I PREPARED TO TAXI AND WHEN I CALLED THEM; THEY GAVE ME A TAXI CLRNC. I READ THIS BACK; BUT THEY DIDN'T HEAR MY READBACK. THE CTLR CONTACTED ME AGAIN AND SAID I NEEDED TO READ BACK HIS CLRNC. I TOLD HIM I READ IT BACK; BUT MY RADIO WAS NOT WORKING WELL. I THEN DEPARTED AND THE TRIP WAS UNEVENTFUL AFTER THAT. LATER THAT DAY AT DXR (ANOTHER CLASS D CLOSE TO BDR); I ASKED THEM HOW THEY HEARD ME AND SAID LOUD AND CLR; HOWEVER; THEY SAID ONCE MY XMISSIONS WERE INTERMITTENT. THEY WERE VERY COOPERATIVE COMPARED TO BDR TWR (BDR HAD MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT PERSONNEL TO THE FSDO). I WROTE THE ACFT UP IN MAINT. ONE WAY I COULD HAVE RESOLVED THIS WAS TO STAY CLR OF THE CLASS D. HOWEVER; THE BDR TWR'S EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE IS DETRIMENTAL TO AVIATION SAFETY AND IS A STEP BACK FROM WHERE AVIATION SHOULD BE GOING.
