MD83 FO; PF; ON SECOND IOE FLT; FLYING THE OLYMPIA 2 STAR. OVERLOADED WITH INFO FROM INSTRUCTOR AND TURNED AT ARVAD TO 340 DEGS INSTEAD OF FOURT. APCH CTLR CORRECTED AND GAVE VECTOR TO 040 DEGS. VECTORED BACK TO THE N FOR APCH AND LNDG. BOTH PLTS WERE OVERLOADED.
I WAS ON MY SECOND TRIP FOR IOE AS FO ON AN MD83. MY INSTRUCTOR WAS ATTEMPTING TO OFFER INSTRUCTION TO ME WHILE DSNDING INTO SEATTLE ON THE OLYMPIA 2 ARR. SEATTLE WAS LNDG ON RWY 16R-L AT THE TIME. I GOT OVERLOADED WITH INFO COMING FROM MY INSTRUCTOR; LISTENING TO APCH CTL; FLYING THE ARR IN ICING CONDITIONS (WHICH CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO USE HIGHER THAN NORMAL PWR SETTINGS AND PAY CLOSER ATTN TO ALT RESTRS). THE OLYMPIA 2 CALLS FOR A TURN TO 340 DEG HDG AT 'FOURT' (OLM-022 DEGS-20) WHEN SEATTLE IS LNDG S. APCHING 'ARVAD' (OLM-022 DEGS-20) MY INSTRUCTOR TOLD ME TO TURN TO 340 DEGS AND I DID NOT XCHK WHERE WE WERE AT THE TIME. SEATTLE INFORMED US WE TURNED 5 MI EARLY AND GAVE US A CORRECTED HDG OF 040 DEGS FOR APPROX 1 MIN THEN TURNED US BACK TO THE N TO RESUME ARR. THAT WAS ALL SEATTLE SAID TO US ABOUT THE EVENT. I BELIEVE BOTH THE INSTRUCTOR AND I WERE OVERLOADED WITH INFO COMING AT US AND THE EARLY TURN TO THE N WAS AN EFFORT TO STAY AHEAD ON THE ARR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 355826: THE FO BEGAN A TURN TO 340 DEG HDG AT ARVAD INSTEAD OF FOURT AS PRESCRIBED ON THE ARR. WE WERE DSNDING AND ATC GAVE US A NEW ALT AND A SPD RESTR AT THE SAME TIME; WHILE I WAS TRYING TO GET THE NEW ATIS AND WATCH THE STUDENT AT THE SAME TIME.
