SMA ON PLEASURE FLT IMC SET WRONG RADIAL FOR V3 OUT OF MLB. SET 351 VERSUS 343 OUT OF MLB RESULTING IN PENETRATION OF R-2933. HAD PROBS WITH THE XPONDER INITIALLY BUT BECAME OPERATIONAL AND CTLR CAUGHT THE NAV ERROR. HAD SET THE WRONG RADIAL IN HIS LOG THE PREVIOUS NIGHT.
DEPARTED MLB IFR (VMC CONDITIONS PREVAILED) HEADING 340 DEGS 2000 FT AND CONTACTED PATRICK DEP. XPONDER NOT BEING RECEIVED AND TOLD TO INTERCEPT V-3 NBOUND AND CLB TO 3000 FT. INITIATED CLB (NOW IN IMC) RPTED INTERCEPTING V-3 (STILL NOT RADAR IDENTED) RPTED HAVING CROSSED INDIA INTXN. XPONDER CODE NOW RECEIVED AND TOLD I WAS 8 MI E OF VICTOR 3 AND NOT YET N OF INDIA. I BELIEVE I MAY HAVE PENETRATED R2933 OR R2982 (NASA KENNEDY SPACE STATION RESTR ZONES) -- NOT ON THE AIRWAY. DESPITE HAVING PREPARED A 'METICULOUS' FLT LOG THE NIGHT BEFORE; I SET THE #1 AND #2 VORS TO R-351 INSTEAD OF R-343 WHICH DEFINES V-3. R-351 IS THE RADIAL NBOUND FROM ORMOND (THE NEXT FIX ON VICTOR 3) AND IT IS THIS RADIAL I MISTAKENLY PLACED ON MY FLT LOG. WHEN SETTING RADIOS PRIOR TO DEP AND WHEN GIVEN ATC INSTRUCTIONS AIRBORNE I USE CHARTS; NOT LOGS. XCHK THE CHART WITH THE FLT LOG FOR COMPATIBILITY; BUT ALL RADIALS AND ALL RADIAL IDENT SHOULD BE FROM CHARTS; NOT LOGS. THE BUSYNESS OF INITIAL CLBOUT 122 DEG TURN TO 2000 FT THEN ATC FREQ CHANGE AND A NEW ALT AND NEW ATC INSTRUCTIONS COUPLED WITH SOME PREOCCUPATION WITH AN INOP XPONDER MAY HAVE DISTRACTED ATTN FROM THE CHART. IT IS ALSO A GOOD IDEA TO MONITOR VFR CHARTS. I NOW DISCOVER THERE WAS A 15000 FT TETHER BALLOON IN THE AREA.
