A VFR SMA ENTERS CLASS D AIRSPACE WITHOUT AUTH DURING IMC CONDITIONS.
WHEN CONTINUING ALONG SW ALONG I-35 I CALLED IXD ON 118.3 AND ASKED FOR CLRNC THROUGH THEIR AIRSPACE; I'M GUESSING I WAS ABOUT 4 MI OR SO NE OF THE FIELD AT THAT TIME. I ALSO ASKED FOR CURRENT WINDS AND ALTIMETER SETTING. THE TWR THEN INFORMED ME THAT NEW CENTURY WAS UNDER IFR CONDITIONS AND TO STAY OUT OF THE CLASS D AIRSPACE. THEN I THOUGHT I WAS SO DEEP INTO THE CLASS D AIRSPACE I MIGHT GET OUT OF IT JUST AS FAST GOING S INSTEAD OF TURNING AROUND AND LEAVING IT TO THE N. I THOUGHT THEY OUGHT TO KNOW WHERE I'M AT ON RADAR AND BECAUSE OF MY XPONDER. SO I CONTINUED PRETTY MUCH DUE S BTWN OJC AND IXD BUT IN BOTH CLASS D AIRSPACE. CONTINUING W I CROSSED I-35 AND KNEW I SHOULD BE S-SW OF K34 SO AT THAT POINT I TURNED N AND SAW A PAIR OF SILOS; BLUE WITH WHITE TOPS; I KNEW THEY ARE W OF THE FIELD SO I TURNED E-NE TILL I SAW GARDNER ARPT FROM THE S. AND MAYBE A COUPLE MI OUT I CALLED GARDNER TFC; I BELIEVE I SAID I WOULD CROSS MID- FIELD FROM THE E SIDE AND ENTER A L DOWNWIND APCH FOR A FULL STOP LNDG ON RWY 35. WHILE I BELIEVE I WAS TURNING TO MY L DOWNWIND APCH FOR RWY 35 OJC CALLED ME ON 122.8 GARDNER UNICOM AND TOLD ME ALL THE THINGS I DID WRONG. AT THAT POINT I WAS TRYING TO PAY CLOSE ATTN TO MY LNDG. WE WERE STILL TALKING BACK AND FORTH; HE SAID I COULDN'T DO ALL THE THINGS I DID. HE ALSO SAID I SHOULD HAVE CALLED ONE OF THEM OJC OR IXD! WELL I DID CALL IXD EARLIER BUT NOT AS EARLY AS I SHOULD HAVE. AND I ALSO SHOULD HAVE CALLED OJC OR BEFORE THAT GVW TO SEE WHAT THE WX WAS LOOKING LIKE AT THEIR ARPTS WHEN I WAS COMING IN FROM THE E.
