Synopsis

MD88 TURNS OFF LNDG RWY AND HAS IN INCURSION AT THE NEXT RWY TO BE CROSSED AT DAB.

Narrative

UPON ARR IN THE TERMINAL AREA; WE WERE CHANGED FROM A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 25R TO A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 16. THIS WAS DUE TO THE RWY LIGHTS BEING OTS ON RWY 25R. AFTER BRIEFING A VISUAL APCH BACKED UP BY THE VOR RWY 16; WE COMMENCED THE APCH. THE APCH AND LNDG WERE NORMAL AND WE WERE TOLD TO TURN OFF AT THE END OF RWY 16. THE LNDG AND ROLLOUT OCCURRED JUST AFTER SUNSET AND IT WAS RELATIVELY DARK. AS WE TURNED OFF THE RWY WE CONTACTED GND CTL. GND TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 25L ON TXWY W. AS WE TAXIED N ON TXWY W THE FO WAS COMPLETING THE AFTER LNDG CHK WHILE THE CAPT WAS LOOKING FOR THE HOLD SHORT POINT FOR RWY 25L. SHORTLY THEREAFTER; GND CTL TOLD US TO STOP (RATHER FORCEFULLY) AND I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES. TAXI SPD WAS RELATIVELY SLOW DUE TO UNFAMILIARITY WITH THIS SECTION OF THE ARPT. THE STOPPING DISTANCE WAS MINIMAL; AND AFTER STOPPING WE NOTICED THE NOSE OF OUR ACFT WAS JUST SHORT OF RWY 25L. AS WE LOOK AROUND TO SEE WHY THE STOP INSTRUCTION WAS GIVEN; WE NOTICED AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 25L GOING AROUND (MISSED APCH). AFTER THE ACFT PASSED; WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO THE GATE. AFTER REVIEWING THE SIT; WE WERE UNSURE IF OUR CLOSE PROX TO THE RWY CAUSED THE LIGHT ACFT TO GAR. RECOMMENDATIONS: RWY 16 IS NOT A NORMAL ACR RWY. TWR COULD HAVE HELPED WITH MORE INFO ABOUT HOLD SHORT PROX. THAT PORTION OF THE ARPT COULD HAVE BETTER LIGHTING TO HELP IDENT THE INTXN. THE SIGNAGE FOR RWY 25L AND TXWY 16 WAS POOR. THE CREW COULD HAVE DELAYED THE AFTER LNDG CHK AND BEEN MORE SURE OF THE INTXN IN QUESTION BEFORE COMPLETING OTHER DUTIES.

Frequently asked questions

How do I search flights by aircraft type on FlightFinder?

Pick an aircraft model — Boeing 737, Airbus A320, A380, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and more — enter your origin airport, and FlightFinder shows every route that plane flies from there with live fares.

Which aircraft types can I filter by?

We support Boeing 737/747/757/767/777/787, the full Airbus A220/A319/A320/A321/A330/A340/A350/A380 family, Embraer E170/E175/E190/E195, Bombardier CRJ and Dash 8, and the ATR 42/72 turboprops.

Is FlightFinder free to use?

Search and schedules are free. Pro ($4.99/month, $39/year, or $99 one-time lifetime) unlocks the enriched flight card — on-time stats, CO₂ per passenger, amenities, live gate & weather — plus My Trips with push alerts.

Where does the route data come from?

Live schedules come from Amadeus, AeroDataBox and Travelpayouts. Observed routes (which aircraft actually flew a given city pair) are crowdsourced from adsb.lol ADS-B data under the Open Database License.
