EXAMINER GIVING CHK RIDE HAS PROB WITH CIRCUIT BREAKERS FOR LNDG GEAR POPPING AND PLT CANDIDATE USES MANUAL EXTENSION. THE CANDIDATE BECOMES ILL AND EXAMINER TAKES CTL OF ACFT BUT MAKES APCH TO WRONG ARPT.
WHILE PERFORMING MANEUVERS FOR CHK RIDE; THIS BEECHCRAFT BARON STARTED TO HAVE GEAR CIRCUIT BREAKER PROBS. WE DECIDED TO DO AS MUCH WORK AT ALT AS POSSIBLE SO AS TO COMPLETE CHK RIDE. WHILE PERFORMING A VOR RWY 29 APCH TO C52 ARPT; WE SUCCESSFULLY GOT THE GEAR TO OPERATE. SINCE A LNDG WAS NEEDED; WE KEPT THE GEAR DOWN AND PROCEEDED TO COMPLETE APCH AND LAND. HOWEVER; THE TROUBLE RECURRED AND WE HAD GEAR UP WITH A POPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER. EVERYTHING WE TRIED TO ENGAGE (AFTER COOLING OFF PERIOD) CIRCUIT BREAKER; IT POPPED. FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES; CHK RIDE WAS COMPLETED EXCEPT FOR ILS RWY 23 APCH AT UFN. I ADVISED APPLICANT TO PERFORM EMER GEAR EXTENSION WHILE WE WERE AT LEAST 15-20 MI OUT FROM FAF JUST IN CASE. IT WAS TURBULENT AND HE HAD DIFFICULTY AFTER 40 CRANKS (NEED 52) AND WAS STRUGGLING. POH SAYS TO USE AUTOPLT BUT I ELECTED TO FLY AND WATCH FOR TFC. FINALLY; THERE WERE 3 IN THE GREEN AND LNDG GEAR WAS EXTENDED. 1 MIN LATER APPLICANT SAID WE SHOULD LAND ASAP BECAUSE HE WAS AIRSICK. I 'SAW' UGN AND DECLARED EMER. AT THIS TIME WE WERE ABOVE ALL CLASS D AIRSPACE. WE WERE CLRED TO LAND; RPT ON FINAL FOR RWY 23. AS WE ROLLED OUT FOR RWY 23; I CALLED BARON ON FINAL. CTLR SAID 'NOT IN SIGHT; CLRED TO LAND.' I NOTICED RWY 24R! WHICH WAS ENW. I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED TO ENW TWR; CALLED EMER AND EXPLAINED SIT WITH NO PROB EXCEPT REALLY ILL PAX WHO USED HIS SICK SACK. DISTR OF GEAR AND PAX CAUSED ME; AN EXPERIENCED PLT; TO MISIDENT THE ARPT; ALTHOUGH WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO LAND THERE ANYWAY. APPARENTLY; THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AT ENW AND UGN.
