BE10 KING AIR ACFT TAXIING AND CLRED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY. RPTR TAXIED ONTO RWY BEFORE RECOGNIZING IT AND THEN STOPPED. TWR CTLR CLRED ACFT ACROSS.
AT PWK; MY COPLT (PNF) RECEIVED OUR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WHICH WERE TO TAXI TO RWY 16 VIA RWY 30 AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 24. AS WE RAN THROUGH THE CHKLISTS; THE CTLR (GND) ASKED US IF WE WANTED RWY 24. I HAD MY COPLT ANSWER 'NO' AND THEN I ASKED THE CTLR HOW MUCH RWY WAS AVAILABLE. (I DID NOT HAVE THE ARPT DIAGRAM IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME.) THE CTLR ANSWERED 'FULL LENGTH;' THEN TOLD ME THE LENGTH WHICH WAS SHORTER THAN I WANTED. THE CTLR AGAIN CLRED US TO RWY 16 AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 24. A SHORT WHILE LATER I NOTICED THAT MY NOSEWHEEL WAS ON RWY 24. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT I WAS ACTUALLY TAXIING ONTO THE RWY SO I STOPPED. AT THIS TIME THE CTLR CLRED US TO CROSS RWYS 24 AND 34 AND TAXI TO RWY 16. NEITHER I; NOR MY COPLT; SAW THE HOLD SHORT MARKINGS AT RWY 24. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE WAS NOT AN ACFT TAKING OFF OR LNDG ON RWY 24 AT THIS TIME. FACTORS THAT I BELIEVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS WERE AS FOLLOWS: 1) PLT'S UNFAMILIARITY WITH PWK. 2) USING CHKLISTS AT A PARTICULARLY CONFUSING ARPT WHILE TAXIING. 3) NARROW RWYS THAT LOOKED TOO NARROW TO BE AN ACTUAL RWY. 4) PF LETTING THE LESS EXPERIENCED COPLT GUIDE HIM ON THE ARPT. 5) CONFUSING ARPT ALONG WITH A CONFUSING INTXN.
