A DC8 DEPARTING BDL; CT; LOSES ALL OF ITS RADIOS SHORTLY AFTER LIFT-OFF. FLC RETURNS TO LAND FOR REPAIR OF ACFT RADIO.
THE FLT FROM SAN JUAN (TJSJ) TO BDL COMPLETED WITH NO KNOWN COMS PROBS. AT THE RAMP; A RAMP AGENT ASKED THE CREW TO CHK FOR A STUCK MIKE. THIS WAS DONE AND NONE WAS FOUND IN THE ACFT. ON TAXI OUT ALL RADIOS OPERATED NORMALLY. ON THE TXWY THE TWR ASKED THE CREW TO CHK FOR A STUCK MIKE ON GND FREQ. THE 3 RADIOS ONBOARD WERE CHKED. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT #2 RADIO MIGHT BE CAUSING INTERFERENCE INTERMITTENTLY. IT WAS SELECTED TO ANOTHER FREQ AND IT APPEARED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. IT WAS DECIDED THAT #2 RADIO WOULD NOT BE USED AND IT WOULD BE SWITCHED OUT OF THE LCL FREQS. THE TWR WAS ADVISED THAT THE FLT WOULD CONTINUE AND REQUESTED TAXI CLRNC TO THE ACTIVE RWY. THE #1 AND #3 RADIOS WERE TO BE USED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT. NO RADIO PROBS WERE NOTED USING #3 RADIO. THE FLT WAS CLRED TO TAKE OFF AND WAS GIVEN A HEADING AND 4000 FT INITIAL ALT; AND A DEP CTL FREQ. AFTER TKOF NO COMS WERE POSSIBLE ON THE ASSIGNED FREQ. CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTED ON RADIO #1 AND #3 WITH NO SUCCESS. TWR FREQ WAS AGAIN SELECTED ON BOTH RADIOS WITH NO SUCCESS. GND CTL FREQ WAS ALSO SELECTED WITH NO SUCCESS. AGAIN DEP CTL FREQ WAS SELECTED AND RECEPTION WAS VERY WEAK AND INTERMITTENT. FREQ 121.5 AND 7600 XPONDER CODE WERE SELECTED. CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTED BUT IT APPEARED THE CTLR WAS NOT RECEIVING OUR XMISSIONS. RECEPTION ON 121.5 WAS LOUD AND CLR. CTLR XMISSIONS WERE ACKNOWLEDGED WITH ACFT TURNS AND WITH IDENT ON THE XPONDER; THE FLT WAS VECTORED TO BRADLEY ARPT AND CLRED TO LAND IN THIS MANNER. AFTER LNDG DURING TAXI-IN THE RADIOS WERE CHKED AND WITH GND CTL AND ALL 3 RADIOS OPERATED NORMALLY. THE RADIOS WERE CHKED BY A TECHNICIAN AND #2 RADIO WAS REPLACED. NO OTHER MALFUNCTIONS WERE FOUND BY THE TECHNICIAN. ALL RADIOS OPERATED NORMALLY ON A SUBSEQUENT FLT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 371646: TWR TOLD US TO CHANGE TO DEP FREQ. WE DID AND LOST ALL COMS; COULD NOT GET GND; TWR; DEP CTR ON ANY OF THE RADIOS (3) AVAILABLE. WE CLBED TO ASSIGNED ALT ON HEADING. FINALLY ABLE TO RECEIVE ATC ON GUARD FREQ 121.5 ONLY RECEIVE COULD NOT REPLY. ACKNOWLEDGED BY SQUAWK IDENT. RECEIVED VECTORS AND CLRNC TO LAND BDL. UPON CLRING RWY ALL RADIOS RESUMED NORMAL OP; MAINT REMOVED AND REPLACED #2 COM RECEIVE/XMIT AND SPRAYED CONTACT DRYER ON CONNECTIONS. FLT AGAIN DEPARTED BDL WITH NO FURTHER DISCREPANCIES.
