Synopsis

AN ACR E120 FLC TURNED TO THE WRONG VOR COURSE WHEN THE CAPT CONFUSED 2 DIFFERENT STARS WITH EACH OTHER. THE CAPT; IN PART; BLAMES FATIGUE AND POOR PROC.

Narrative

ON ARR TO DFW WE WERE FILED FOR THE BONHAM 2 ARR (BYP.BYP2). AFTER XING THE VOR I TURNED L TO INTERCEPT THE 129 DEG RADIAL. I SHOULD HAVE TURNED R TO INTERCEPT THE 219 DEG RADIAL. THE FO CAUGHT MY MISTAKE AS I ROLLED OUT ON THE RADIAL. I IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED. ATC ALSO NOTICED. I DON'T BELIEVE ANY CONFLICT OCCURRED. I BELIEVE THERE WERE SEVERAL CONTRIBUTING FACTORS; THE BIGGEST BEING FATIGUE. I DID NOT GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE. ALTHOUGH I DID HAVE THE DAY BEFORE OFF; I WORKED THE PREVIOUS 3 DAYS AND I WORK THE NEXT 4 DAYS. FATIGUE AT MY COMPANY IS NOT AN ACCEPTED REASON TO CALL IN SICK. ANOTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IS THE SIMILARITY BTWN THE BOWIE (UKW.UKW2) ARR AND THE BONHAM ARR. THE INBOUND COURSE FOR THE BONHAM ARR IS 219 DEGS WHILE BOWIE'S IS 129 DEGS. BEING TIRED I NEVER NOTICED I WAS SET UP FOR THE WRONG ARR. ANOTHER CAUSE WAS THE FAILURE TO GIVE A GOOD BRIEF ON THE ARR. IF I WOULD HAVE BRIEFED IT; I WOULD HAVE HAD THE CORRECT NUMBERS IN MY HEAD; OR THE FO COULD HAVE CAUGHT MY MISTAKE EARLIER.
