A BAE 3200 ACFT TAXIES FROM IAD; VA; MID-FIELD AND STRIKES A TXWY EDGE LIGHT.
TAXI EDGE LIGHT (RAISED) WAS STRUCK BY NOSE TIRE. CREW DEPARTED A NEW GATE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND MISTOOK TAXI EDGE LINE FOR CTRLINE. THE EDGE LINE TURNED INTO A BLUE LIGHT LINE BEYOND TERMINAL. CAPT WAS DISTRACTED FROM TAXIING BY STARTING THE SECOND ENG AND CONDUCTING CHKLISTS; AND HIT A BLUE LIGHT WITH THE NOSE TIRE. ACFT WAS INSPECTED FOR FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE AND NONE WAS NOTED. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: UNFAMILIAR TAXI RTE FROM A NEW GATE; CONDUCTING (APPROVED) ENG START DURING TAXI; MISLEADING TXWY LINES; PREPONDERANCE OF TERMINAL LIGHTING; AND UPDATED ARPT DIAGRAM NOT AVAILABLE. CURRENT ONE IN USE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE NEW MID-FIELD TERMINAL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 392728: WE WERE TAXIING SINGLE (R) ENG; BUT THE CAPT WAS HAVING TROUBLE TURNING; SO I ASKED IF HE WANTED ME TO START THE L ENG. HE STATED THAT HE WANTED ME TO DO SO; SO I STARTED THE L ENG. MY EYES WERE IN THE COCKPIT WATCHING THE GAUGES FOR THE ENG START. AFTER THE ENG STARTED; I RAN THE AFTER-START CHKLIST; AND THE CAPT RESPONDED TO THE ITEMS. I THEN STARTED RUNNING THE TAXI CHKLIST. AS I WAS RUNNING THE CHKLIST; I HEARD A LOUD NOISE. I ASKED THE CAPT 'WHAT WAS THAT.' HE RESPONDED A CTRLINE TAXI LIGHT (GREEN). I THEN LOOKED UP AND REALIZED THAT IT WAS AN ACTUAL TAXI LIGHT (BLUE); AND SAID I THINK THAT WAS A TAXI LIGHT; WE MUST HAVE JUST HIT IT. AT THIS TIME THE MID-FIELD RAMP TWR; ADVISED US THAT WE JUST STRUCK THE TAXI LIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY THE FACTOR OF A NEW TERMINAL THAT THE CAPT AND I WERE BOTH INEXPERIENCED WITH; THE MULTIPLE TASKS THAT KEPT MY EYES INSIDE THE COCKPIT; THE DESIGN OF THE NEW TERMINAL AND THE TAXI LIGHT BEING LINED UP WITH A DASHED LINE; THAT GIVES THE IMPRESSION OF A TXWY LINE; AND THE TXWY LIGHTS BEING SO FAR FROM THE END OF THE PAVEMENT.
