INSTRUCTOR PLT OF A BEECH BARON; BE55; MISTAKENLY RAISED THE GEAR INSTEAD OF THE FLAPS AFTER LNDG IN PREPARATIONS FOR TOUCH AND GO TKOF. THE ACFT BECAME STRANDED ON THE RWY WHEN THE GEAR RETRACTED.
INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT HAD COMPLETED THE MANEUVERS PHASE OF THE LESSON PLAN AND PROCEEDED TO AN UNCTLED ARPT FOR THE TOUCH AND GO PHASE OF THE LESSON. ENTRY INTO AEG WAS NORMAL WITH THE TOUCHDOWN TO OCCUR ON THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE MARKERS. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL UNTIL THE GO PORTION OF THE TOUCH AND GO WAS DECLARED. THE ACFT WAS UNDER FULL CTL AND DECELERATING; WHEN THE GO WAS INITIATED. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT THE PWR UP INSTRUCTION HAD NOT YET BEEN INSTRUCTED WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. INSTRUCTOR REACHED FOR THE GEAR HANDLE AND RETRACTED THE GEAR INSTEAD OF THE FLAPS. ACFT'S AIRSPD WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 40-50 KIAS AT THE TIME OF THE RETRACTION. NORMALLY; ON SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES; THE SEQUENCE FOR SUCH A TOUCH AND GO IS AS FOLLOWS: 1) ACFT UNDER CTL WITH SUFFICIENT RWY FOR THE TOUCH AND GO; 2) FLAPS UP; 3) PWR UP; AND 4) BLUE LINE; POSITIVE RATE OF CLB; NO RWY LEFT; -- GEAR UP. INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT PERFORMED TOUCH AND GO'S PRIOR TO INCIDENT. HUMAN PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: INSTRUCTOR PERCEIVED THE FLAPS TO BE RETRACTING. INSTRUCTOR LOW TIME IN ACFT; HIGH TIME IN CESSNA. FLAP SWITCH IN CESSNA LOCATED APPROX SAME LOCATION AS GEAR SWITCH IN BEECH BARON. INSTRUCTOR TO DO REMEDIAL TRAINING IN BARON WITH ALL LNDGS TO A FULL STOP.
