Synopsis

CL65 CREW FORGOT TO TURN ON THE SEAT BELT SIGN AND NO SMOKING SIGN.

Narrative

ACR FLT STARTS OUT AT XX00 ON JUL/THU/98. I (THE FO) CAME OFF OF A STAND-UP TRIP; WHICH MEANS YOU COME IN LATE AND START EARLY. THE TRIP DOES NOT MEET REST REQUIREMENT; AND YOU GET YOUR REST WHEN THE TRIP IS FINISHED. THIS IS ALL LEGAL. THE PROB IS; SCHEDULING CALLS YOU ZZ00 TO GIVE YOU A MORNING SHOW. NOW I HAVE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT AGAIN. THE CAPT HAS A SIMILAR SCENARIO AND IS ON REDUCED REST. CAPT'S SHOW TIME IS 15 MINS PRIOR TO DEP. SO; AS THE FO; I HAVE MOST OF MY WORK DONE AND SOME OF HIS WORK. HE SHOWS AND I'M SURE HE FEELS RUSHED. ADDITIONALLY; WE NOW FIND THAT THE MEL HAS BEEN CLRED BY MAINT; BUT NOT ON THE RELEASE SO WE HAVE TO CLR IT. SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE WHEN WE RUN THE CHKLIST; WE BOTH MISS THE SEAT BELT SIGN AND NO SMOKING SIGN ON THE WAY OUT; WHEN WE NORMALLY GET A CHANCE TO DOUBLE CHK A FEW THINGS. WE DISCOVERED A FAULT IN THE HYDS; DELAYING US FURTHER. WE FINALLY CLRED UP THE FAULT WITH MAINT. WE RAN THE REST OF THE CHKLIST AND TOOK OFF. AFTER FLAP AND GEAR RETRACTION; AND CONTACTING DEP; I SAW THE SEAT BELT SIGN AND NO SMOKING SIGN AND TURNED THEM ON. THE ONLY REASON I'M SUBMITTING THIS IS; WE HAD AN FAA INSPECTOR JUMP SEATING IN THE BACK.
