B767 CREW ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TO EXTREME TURB. PAX SEAT BELT FAILED CAUSING PAX INJURY. CABIN ATTENDANT WAS ALSO INJURED.

INFLT TURB. NORMAL DEP. FO WAS HAND FLYING THE ACFT. CLBING OUT OF FL180 10 NM W OF EON VOR IN IMC CONDITIONS THE WX RADAR ON AND NO WX RETURNS. NO RPTS OF TURB FROM CTR OR OTHER ACFT. WE ENCOUNTERED ABOUT 5 SECONDS OF MODERATE TURB. FLT ATTENDANT WAS STANDING IN THE AFT GALLEY AND APPARENTLY HIT THE CEILING AND FELL TO THE FLOOR. SHE THEN COMPLAINED OF BACK AND LEG PAIN. PAX IN SEAT XXX CAME OUT OF HER SEAT WHEN HER SEAT BELT APPARENTLY CAME UNHOOKED FROM THE SEAT. PAX COMPLAINED OF PAIN ON HER L SLIDE. RETURNED TO ORD; LANDED AT YY06Z. ARRIVED AT GATE AT YY10Z. ACFT WAS MET BY PARAMEDICS. FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX WERE TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL. CONDITION UNKNOWN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 409293: THE ACFT WAS CLBING AT APPROX 300 KTS IN THE CLOUDS. THE RADAR WAS IN WX/T AND NO RETURNS WERE SHOWING AT OR NEAR THE AREA WHERE THE TURB WAS ENCOUNTERED. TURB WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE TOPS OR BOTTOMS OF THIS WX. I WAS THE PURSER SEATED IN THE FORWARD R-HAND JUMP SEAT. I CALLED TO THE BACK OF THE ACFT TO SEE IF EVERYONE WAS ALRIGHT. A DEADHEADING FLT ATTENDANT ANSWERED THE INTERPHONE AND INFORMED ME THAT A PAX HAD FALLED INTO THE AISLE AND A FLT ATTENDANT HAD HIT THE CEILING IN THE BACK GALLEY. I INFORMED THE CAPT AND HE MADE THE DECISION TO RETURN TO ORD.
