Synopsis

B757 HAD LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE ON #2 ENG. UPON BRAKE APPLICATION; ON LNDG; ACFT HAD VIOLENT SHIMMY AND SHUDDER FROM BRAKE APPLICATION.

Narrative

AFTER TKOF OUT OF 10500 FT THE R ENG OIL PRESSURE ECAS MESSAGE CAME ON RED; AT ZERO PRESSURE; OIL PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. PERFORMED ABNORMAL PROC AND SHUT DOWN THE R ENG. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND REQUESTED CFR TO STAND BY FOR US. WE RETURNED TO BOS RWY 22L ILS. WT WAS 226000 LBS. NORMAL TOUCHDOWN; VERT SPD WAS LESS THAN 100 FPM; AT 154 KTS. AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE AUTO BRAKES TRIPPED OFF WITH VERY LIGHT TOUCH. BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT APPROX 110 KTS; AFTER SLOWING BELOW 100 KTS; THE ACFT HAD A VIOLENT SHIMMY AND SHUDDER FROM BRAKE APPLICATIONS. WE SLOWED TO A STOP BY REVERSE AND DID NOT PARK THE BRAKES. CFR CHKED OUT THE ACFT ON THE FREQ 121.75; IT WORKED GREAT; BEING ABLE TO TALK DIRECTLY TO THE FIRE CREWS. AFTER CFR CHK OUT WE TAXIED OFF THE RWY AND HAD ACR WITH A TUG TOW US TO THE GATE AB. THE FLT ATTENDANTS WERE NOTIFIED BY 4 DINGS AND ALL DATA WAS GIVEN TO THEM. THEY DID A GREAT JOB. LOGBOOK ENTRIES AND ALL PAPERWORK WAS FILLED OUT AND BRIEFS WITH MAINT; DISPATCH; CHIEF PLT ON DUTY AND ATC IN BOS. MANY THANKS TO ALL AT ATC; CFR AND ALL THAT HELPED DURING THIS EMER. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 411524: I INCREASED REVERSE THRUST ON THE L ENG AND SLOWED TO A STOP WITHOUT PARKING THE BRAKES.
