PLT OF A CESSNA CORSAIR C425 ABORTED TKOF AT AN UNCTLED ARPT AFTER APPEARING TO BE OVERTAKING A GLIDER TOW ACFT TAKING OFF. HE WAS RUSHING HIS TKOF TO GET OUT AHEAD OF ANOTHER ACFT APCHING TO LAND ON THE DOWNWIND LEG. IN ADDITION; HE WAS DISTR BY NOT BEING ABLE TO ANNOUNCE HIS INTENTIONS OVER UNICOM DUE TO FREQ CONGESTION.
WAS TAXIING ONTO RWY 19 AT TRUCKEE; DID NOT ANNOUNCE BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS TALKING TO UNICOM ON CTAF. WHEN I HAD A CHANCE TO XMIT; A GLIDER TOW STARTED XMITTING BEFORE I COULD. HE ANNOUNCED THAT HE WAS TAXIING ONTO THE RWY FOR A 'HOOK-UP.' ONLY PROB WAS THAT I WAS ALREADY ON THE RWY THOUGH STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TURN INTO A TKOF POS WHERE I COULD RUN MY MOTORS UP BEFORE BRAKE RELEASE. HE TAXIED ON FROM AN INTXN AHEAD OF ME. THERE WAS A PLANE ON DOWNWIND THAT I BRIEFLY NOTICED. SO I DIDN'T WANT TO STAY THERE TOO LONG. I ASKED THE GLIDER TOW HOW LONG HE WOULD BE -- NO ANSWER. I WAS ABOUT TO TAXI OFF OF THE RWY WHEN THE TOW BEGAN ITS TKOF ROLL; LESS THAN 1 MIN AFTER TAXIING ONTO THE RWY. I WAS TRYING TO GUESS WHERE THE LNDG TFC WAS. WHEN THERE WAS WHAT I THOUGHT WAS ENOUGH SEPARATION I STARTED ROLLING. BOY; WAS I OVERTAKING THAT TOW/GLIDER COMBO FAST! I DECIDED TO ABORT EARLY ON; AND TURNED OFF ONTO THE FIRST TXWY. AS I TURNED OFF; I SAW A GLIDER TOW GOING AROUND; VERY LOW. I MUST HAVE CONFUSED HIM WITH MY ABORT. IN RETROSPECT; I COULD HAVE MADE THE TKOF WITHOUT OVERTAKING THE TOW PLANE; BUT I MAY HAVE UPSET THE LCL GLIDER OPERATORS AND MY PAX WHEN PASSING -- VERY CLOSELY. I SHOULD HAVE TAXIED OFF WHEN THE TOW DIDN'T ANSWER. I TOOK OFF A BIT EARLY BECAUSE OF THE LNDG TFC. I SHOULDN'T HAVE LET THAT PRESSURE ME. ACTUALLY; THE PROPER POLICY IS TO NOT BE HOLDING WITH LNDG TFC BEHIND AND DEPARTING TFC IN FRONT. IT WAS ALSO EMBARRASSING BECAUSE MY PAX WAS RIDING UP FRONT. ALSO; I HAD WOKEN UP FROM A NAP 15 MINS EARLIER!
