PLT INSTRUCTOR IN A C172RG PRACTICING FOR AN FAA CHK RIDE MISINTERPED TWR INSTRUCTIONS AND STARTED TKOF ROLL BEFORE BEING CLRED. TWR CTLR INTERVENED AND INSTRUCTED HIM TO HOLD POS FOR SEPARATION WITH ANOTHER C172 ON THE TKOF ROLL AND HE ABORTED.
ON NOV/XA/98 AT APPROX XA15Z; I WAS OPERATING A C172RG ON A SOLO TRAINING MISSION TO PREPARE FOR AN UPCOMING ASSISTANT CHIEF FLT INSTRUCTOR RIDE WITH THE LCL FSDO. I TAXIED OUT AND PERFORMED THE APPROPRIATE BEFORE TKOF CHKS; AND CONFIGURED THE ACFT FOR A SOFT FIELD TKOF. I THEN CALLED THE TWR ON FREQ 120.3 AND STATED THAT I WAS #2 IN SEQUENCE READY FOR DEP RWY 28. THE ACFT IN FRONT OF ME WAS A COMPANY OWNED AND OPERATED C172. #2 WAS TAXIED INTO POS TO HOLD ON RWY 28 AS A PIPER SEMINOLE EXITED THE RWY. AFTER PIPER WAS CLR OF THE RWY; THE TWR CLRED #2 FOR TKOF. I THEN AGAIN; BECAUSE THE FIRST XMISSION WAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED; CALL; STATED I WAS READY FOR DEP. THE TWR CTLR ASKED ME IF I WAS READY TO GO; IN AN URGENT TONE. I STATED; 'AFFIRMATIVE' AND WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. I STARTED A ROLLING TKOF TO PRACTICE A SOFT FIELD TKOF JUST AS I HAD PLANNED. AT THIS TIME; #2 WAS ONLY APPROX 1000 FT DOWN THE RWY AND NOT AIRBORNE. MY ACFT WAS IN A NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE AND I DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS STILL ON THE RWY. THE TWR BEGAN TO TELL ME TO HOLD MY POS. I WAS ROLLING AT APPROX 45 KTS IN A NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE. I REDUCED THE THROTTLE IMMEDIATELY AND REGAINED CTL OF THE ACFT; AND STOPPED APPROX 1000 FT DOWN THE RWY. I OBSERVED THE C172 LIFT OFF AND BEGIN HIS CLB. I WAS WORRIED THAT THERE WAS TFC CLRED TO LAND ON THE RWY BEHIND ME; BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE CLRNC HAD BEEN ISSUED; HOWEVER; THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. I WAS THEN; WHEN THE APPROPRIATE SEPARATION EXISTED; CLRED FOR TKOF. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE ARPT; I CALLED THE TWR. I WAS ADVISED THAT I WAS BEING 'WROTE UP.' I DON'T BELIEVE I DID ANYTHING WRONG EXCEPT COMPLY WITH WHAT I CONSIDER A RISKY CLRNC. AS A CTLR MYSELF; I TEND TO COMPLY MORE OFTEN WITH THE CLRNCS AND NOT QUESTION THEM AS MUCH AS OTHER PLTS. I WILL NOT DO THIS IN THE FUTURE. IN ADDITION; I WILL ENSURE THAT STANDARD ATC SEPARATION EXISTS PRIOR TO BEGINNING TKOF ROLL. IF THE CLRNC DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING; I WILL NOT ACCEPT IT.
