A B727 FREIGHTER CREW FAILS TO MAKE THE ALT XING RESTR AT RIDGY ON THE ARR PROC INTO EWR. CAPT HAD WRONG VOR TUNED FOR NEXT WAYPOINT.
CLRNC GIVEN TO CROSS RIDGY (ENO 226 DEG RADIAL 22 DME) AT FL240; WHILE ON RBV 1 ARR TO EWR OVER PXT AT FL330. FO (PNF) HAD #2 VOR TUNED TO PXT 046 DEG RADIAL AND CAPT (PF) SELECTED; INADVERTENTLY; OOD VOR VERSUS ENO VOR 226 DEG RADIAL AND COMPUTED DSCNT BASED ON OOD VOR DME. AT ENO 226 DEG RADIAL; 18 DME; FO RECOGNIZED ERROR; RETUNED #1 VOR TO ENO; ADVISED CAPT AND CAPT MADE AN IDLE PWR FULL SPD BRAKE; MAX RATE DSCNT TO FL240. ATC DID NOT SAY ANYTHING CONCERNING OUR MISSING THE XING RESTR AND WE DID NOT VOLUNTEER OUR ERROR TO THEM. REMAINDER OF ARR WENT UNEVENTFUL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 425930: AS SO; I BACK THE PLTS UP ON ALL ALTS; BUT HAD NO IDEA (SITUATIONAL AWARENESS) ON THIS XING RESTR. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: FATIGUE DUE TO LONG DUTY PERIOD. INATTN TO DETAILS IN TUNING/IDENTING VOR. SID VERY HARD TO READ (TOO BUSY). NO CHARTS FOR SO TO BACK UP OTHERS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 426254: AT THIS POINT WE WERE 18 DME FROM ENO AND 4 DME PAST RIDGY AT FL330. I THEN MADE A MAX EFFORT DSCNT TO FL240. WE WERE ON THE FIRST DAY OF A 5 DAY TRIP AND ON OUR 3RD LEG OF A 4 LEG PAIRING WHICH STARTED AT PM30 THE NIGHT BEFORE. WE WERE ALL FATIGUED AND TRYING TO DO OUR JOBS AS NIGHT EXPRESS FREIGHTERS -- BUT THAT IS THE WAY WE FEEL EVERY NIGHT.
