PLT OF AN SMA SEL HAD TO EXTEND DOWNWIND FOR A T6 IN AN UNCTLED ARPT TFC PATTERN WHICH ALMOST CAUSED HIM TO PENETRATE CLASS B ADJACENT AIRSPACE. THE T6 DID A 360 DEG TURN TO ALLOW RPTR TO TURN BASE AND LAND.
WHILE IN THE TFC PATTERN FOR FTG RWY 8; I BROADCAST MY POS AS 'DOWNWIND ENTERING THE PATTERN ON A 45 DEGS.' THEN RPTED 'DOWNWIND ABEAM THE NUMBERS FOR RWY 8.' AN AT6 RPTED DOWNWIND. WHEN I LOOKED FOR HIM; I SAW HIM BEHIND; BUT WELL INSIDE MY POS. HE DIDN'T INDICATE THAT HE SAW ME. AT THAT TIME A C210 RPTED HE WAS GOING INTO POS AND HOLD. I NEEDED TO TURN BASE LEG AT THIS TIME TO AVOID AN OVERSHOOT INTO DEN AIRSPACE. IF I TURNED THEN; I WOULD HAVE CUT OFF THE AT6 WHO WAS NOW LOWER AND SLOWER AND WELL INSIDE MY POS AS WELL AS NOT LEAVING ADEQUATE ROOM FOR THE C210 TO DEPART. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO EXTEND MY DOWNWIND. WHEN I 'WAGED MY WINGS' THE AT6 SPOTTED ME AND DID A 360 DEG TURN TO GIVE ME ROOM. I THEN TURNED BASE AND FINAL AND LANDED. THIS PATTERN PUT ME VERY CLOSE TO DEN AIRSPACE. THERE ISN'T ENOUGH ROOM FOR A CROWDED PATTERN TO RWY 8 AT FTG. WE NEED A WAY TO BE IN CONTACT WITH A CTLING AGENCY THAT CAN INSURE TFC SEPARATION WITH DEN AIRSPACE. WHEN RWY 8 IS IN USE AT FTG A CTLR NEEDS TO CTL TFC ALLOWING USE OF THAT CORNER OF DEN AIRSPACE; OR AT LEAST SOMEONE THAT CAN AUTH TEMPORARY INCURSIONS. THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL THIS LINE OF COM IS OPENED.
