Synopsis

A DEPARTING S80 MAKES AN EARLY TURN TOWARDS TFD VOR ON THE PHX PUSCH 1 DEP PROC.

Narrative

LOCATION: PHX. LAST LEG OF 3 DAY TRIP. HEAVIER CLOSEOUT REQUIRED RECALCULATION OF TKOF DATA. TWR WANTED TO FIT US IN BEFORE THE NEXT LNDG ACFT; AND ASKED IF WE WERE READY. WE SAID YES; DID A HASTIER THAN NORMAL TKOF BRIEF AND TOOK OFF. STARTED TO TURN S TOWARD TFD RADIALS AT 4 DME INSTEAD OF 9 DME. DEP SAW OUR ERROR; TOLD US THE TURN WAS AT 9 DME AND GAVE US A HDG. WHEN THE DUST CLRED; WE ASKED IF WE HAD CAUSED ANY CONFLICTS. HE SAID NO; THAT WE WERE OK. LESSON LEARNED: DON'T RUSH TO COMPLY -- PERIOD. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 428949:PHX PUSCH 1 DEP 4 DME OFF RWY 26L. THOROUGHLY BRIEFED PUSCH 1 DEP FROM PHX RWY 26L. DID NOT GET TO DO LAST MIN REVIEW WITH FO JUST PRIOR TO TKOF AS I NORMALLY DO BECAUSE OF NEW TPS AND TWR PRESSURE TO GET AIRBORNE BEFORE NEXT ARR ACFT. TAKING OF W; I TURNED TO 240 DEG HDG AND AT 4 DME BELOW 3100 FT; STARTED AN EARLY TURN TO 140 DEGS AND STANFIELD INSTEAD OF 9 DME PER THE DEP. COMPLACENCY: RUSHING TO COMPLY AND DISRUPTING HABIT PATTERNS LED TO THIS BREAKDOWN. I WILL REDOUBLE MY EFFORTS TO SLOW DOWN WHEN IN A HURRY UNTIL I KNOW I HAVE GOT IT RIGHT.
