FLC OF AN MLG DURING TAXI OUT FOR TKOF HAS A TXWY EXCURSION EVEN THOUGH USING THE ARPT DIAGRAM AS REF. GND CTL SAYS THEY WILL NEED AN ESCORT TO RETURN TO CORRECT TXWY.

Narrative

DURING TAXI FOR TKOF TO RWY 25R AT LAX; GND CTL AMENDED OUR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS (DUE TO OPPOSITE DIRECTION LNDG TFC) TO READ 'TAXI RWY 25R VIA TXWYS C; C6; B.' READBACK WAS CORRECT. ARPT DIAGRAM WAS OUT AND BEING USED FOR REF. OUR ACFT WAS EBOUND ON TXWY C; TURNED R AT TXWY C6. FO WAS CLRING R SIDE OF ACFT FOR PREVIOUSLY LANDED B757; WHEN HE SENSED A L TURN (WHICH WAS THE CORRECT DIRECTION); LOOKED L AND REALIZED CAPT HAD STARTED TO TURN EARLY. FO STATED 'TXWY B IS AHEAD.' CAPT PAUSED MOMENTARILY AND SAID; 'NO THIS IS IT.' AT THAT POINT; GND CTL INSTRUCTED US TO STOP; THAT THE TXWY IN QUESTION WAS NOT STRESSED FOR OUR ACFT AND WE WOULD HAVE TO BE ESCORTED. ESCORT ARRIVED IN LESS THAN 2 MINS; STOPPED TFC ON ADJACENT SVC ROAD; ESCORTED US TO TXWY B. WE PROCEEDED WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROB. ONE AREA THAT CAUSED SOME CONFUSION WAS THE CLOSE PROX OF TXWYS B AND C NEAR TXWY C6. IN FACT; THE TXWY B SIGN ON THE L SIDE OF TXWY B; IS ACTUALLY LOCATED ON THE R SIDE OF TXWY C; IN PLAIN VIEW AS YOU MAKE THE L TURN ONTO TXWY C. HOWEVER; THE ARPT DIAGRAM IS VERY CLR AS TO THE LAYOUT OF TXWYS B/C; AND WAS BEING USED FOR REF. WE DID NOT FIND ANY INFO THAT STATED THAT THIS TXWY WAS NOT STRESSED AS GND CTL SAID; BUT DID FIND A REF TO INSUFFICIENT WING CLRNC WITH B747 ACFT ON TXWY C AND ADJACENT SVC ROAD. I HAVE LEARNED THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ASSERTIVE WITH TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO CAPT; PERHAPS APPLIED BRAKES. CAPT DID ACKNOWLEDGE THAT FO ATTEMPTED TO STOP HIM.
