FLT ATTENDANT RPTED THAT B767-200; JFK-SFO; DEVELOPED A HYD PROB AT CRUISE ALT; 1 HR 45 MINS OUT OF JFK. CAPT TOLD FLT ATTENDANT TO SECURE CABIN FOR LNDG IN 20 MINS. LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
WE WERE APPROX 1 3/4 HRS INTO FLT WHEN INCIDENT OCCURRED. JFK-SFO B767 ON FEB/XA/99. AT XA35; THE CAPT CALLED ME TO COCKPIT AND INDICATED WE HAD 20 MINS TO SECURE CABIN AND WE WERE LNDG IN CHICAGO; HYDS PROBS. WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF SVC FOR FIRST CLASS AND BUSINESS CLASS; ALTHOUGH MID CABIN HAD FINISHED ITS PRIMARY SVC. I (PURSER) NOTIFIED THE OTHER FLT ATTENDANTS OF THE INFO GIVEN BY CAPT. IT TOOK APPROX 10-12 MINS TO SECURE CABIN. I DID A CABIN WALK THROUGH BEFORE RETURNING TO COCKPIT. EVERYTHING WAS SECURED AND DURING THIS TIME I HAD MENTIONED TO FLT ATTENDANTS THE CAPT WOULD MAKE A PA TO PAX AND RETURNED TO COCKPIT TO INFORM CAPT AND FO CABIN SECURED. THEY ALSO SHOWED ME INFO ON THEIR EQUIP AS TO HOW THEY RECOGNIZED THE PROB AND WHAT IT MEANT. THE PROB WASN'T TOO SERIOUS; BUT SERIOUS ENOUGH TO LAND. WE COULDN'T GO AS FAR AS SAN FRANCISCO AT THAT TIME WITH PROB AS IT EXISTED. I RETURNED TO CABIN TO REASSURE PAX AND FLT ATTENDANTS BY JUST BEING PRESENT. NO ONE SEEMED TO BE SUFFERING FROM ANXIETY. EVERYONE COOPERATED WITH MYSELF AND FELLOW CREW MEMBERS. WE LANDED IN CHICAGO. THE FLT WAS MET BY PAX SVC; FLT SVC AND THE MECHS. THE MECHS CONSULTED WITH THE CAPT; SAID PROB COULD BE FIXED; BUT WE NEEDED A PART FROM ACR Y.
