Synopsis

A B737-400 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE INCORRECT LOGBOOK STATEMENT OF THE ACFT AUTOLAND STATUS.

Narrative

AFTER INSPECTING AN AIR DATA COMPUTER FOR DEFECTS; I ACCOMPLISHED AN OPS CHK OF SYS; THEN DOWNGRADED ACFT TO CAT I STATUS BECAUSE NO TIME TO DO LAND VERIFY CHK. ALL WORK DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MAINT MANUAL AND ACR MAINT MANUAL PROCS. ACFT DID A RETURN TO FIELD AFTER TAKING OFF WITH FO'S ALTIMETER AND AIRSPD FLAGS IN VIEW. I PULLED #2 AIR DATA COMPUTER CIRCUIT BREAKER AND REMOVED #2 AIR DATA COMPUTER FOR INSPECTION OF PINS. AFTER FINDING NO DEFECTS; I INSTALLED #2 AIR DATA COMPUTER AND ACCOMPLISHED AN OPS TEST OF SYS. BECAUSE OF TIME AND EQUIP; I DOWNGRADED ACFT TO CAT I STATUS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE FAA INSPECTOR OBJECTED TO THE LOGBOOK ENTRY OF THE AUTOLAND STATUS. THE RPTR SAID THAT ALL WORK ACCOMPLISHED WAS ENTERED IN THE LOGBOOK CORRECTLY BUT THE AUTOLAND STATUS WAS NOT ENTERED AS STATED IN THE MAINT MANUAL. THE RPTR SAID THE FAA INSPECTOR STATED THIS ACR AND ITS MECHS ARE NOT ADHERING TO THE MANUAL AND STANDARDIZATION IS NEEDED ON THE ACFT AUTOLAND STATUS.
