Synopsis

PASE PLT LANDED AND HAD NOSEWHEEL COLLAPSE.

Narrative

AFTER THE PREFLT TKOF CHKS WERE COMPLETED; WE WERE CLRED FOR DEP FROM RWY 14 WITH R TFC AROUND XA45. AT MID-FIELD ON THE DOWNWIND LEG; THE ACFT WAS SLOWED TO 110 KTS. THE PRELNDG CHK WAS COMPLETED AND MR Y CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE 3 GREENS ON THE GEAR LIGHTS AND THAT HIS MIRROR WAS SHOWING THE NOSE GEAR EXTENDED. AFTER BEING CLRED FOR THE OPTION; THE TWR ADVISED THAT THE WIND HAD SHIFTED TO 200 DEGS AT 17 KTS. IN VIEW OF THE WIND SHIFT; MR X DECIDED TO USE 10 DEGS OF FLAPS AND APCH SPD OF 90 KTS. ANOTHER GUMP CHK WAS CALLED. THE GS WAS ESTABLISHED AND A CRAB ANGLE SET UP. WE CROSSED THE NUMBERS AT APPROX 90 KTS AND REDUCED PWR ACCORDINGLY. PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN; THE CRAB WAS TAKEN OUT AND THE WING DROPPED TO ALIGN WITH THE CTRLINE OF THE RWY. THE ACFT WAS COAXED ONTO THE RWY USING PITCH AND PWR. THE MAIN WHEELS TOUCHED DOWN SATISFACTORILY AND WHEN THE NOSEWHEEL MADE CONTACT WITH THE GND IT COLLAPSED. THE ACFT WAS KEPT UNDER CTL AND CONTINUED ALONG THE CTRLINE OF THE RWY; COMING TO REST JUST SHORT OF INTXN A3. THE TWR WAS INFORMED AND THE ACFT WAS SHUT DOWN AND EVACED. NO ONE WAS INJURED.
