Synopsis

DC10 STOPS 200 FT INTO RWY OVERRUN AT MSP.

Narrative

FLEW AN UNEVENTFUL 35 DEG FLAP ILS APCH TO RWY 30R. ALL NORMAL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SOPA. TOUCHED DOWN WELL WITHIN THE NORMAL LNDG ZONE IN A LIGHT RAIN ON A WET RWY. VREF WAS 152 KTS; APCH WAS FLOWN AT 157 KTS. LNDG GROSS WT WAS 402000 LBS. IMMEDIATELY APPLIED REVERSE THRUST ON ENGS #2 AND #3 (ENG #1 THRUST REVERSER WAS ON MEL). FULL ANTI-SKID BRAKING WAS APPLIED AND THE ANTI-SKID COULD BE FELT CYCLING. ON ROLLOUT; THE SO ANNOUNCED #3 ENG DID NOT SPOOL UP IN REVERSE AND THE #2 ENG WAS AT 90% N1. THROTTLES WERE IN THE FULL AFT POS. AS WE APCHED THE END OF THE RWY WE OFFSET SLIGHTLY R OF CTRLINE TO AVOID AS MANY REIL'S AS POSSIBLE. WE WERE UNABLE TO STOP THE ACFT UNTIL APPROX 200 FT INTO THE OVERRUN. WE COMMUNICATED WITH TWR AND CFR; INFORMING THEM OF OUR STATUS. THE CAPT SHUT DOWN #2 ENG AND TURNED THE NOSE GEAR FULL TRAVEL SO BRAKES DID NOT HAVE TO BE SET. SEVERAL PA CALLS WERE MADE TO THE PAX INFORMING THEM OF THE SIT AND TO REMAIN SEATED. ALL NORMAL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETED AND AFTER A HOT BRAKE INSPECTION BY CRASH CREWS; MAINT TOWED THE ACFT TO THE GATE. PAX WERE DEPLANED NORMALLY. ACFT ON POSTFLT INSPECTION HAD NO APPARENT DAMAGE.
