C152 HAD LTSS FROM A U21A UNDER MIL CTL AT MGE.

Narrative

I WAS FERRYING A C152 FROM FTY TO RYY FOR ROUTINE MAINT. I DEPARTED FTY ON RWY 32; FLEW RWY HDG AND CLBED TO 2700 FT MSL (APPROX 1900 FT AGL) FOR THE SHORT 17 MI FLT. I FLEW APPROX 7 MI ON A HDG OF 320 DEGS TO A LANDMARK (TANK FARM) AND THEN FLEW APPROX 340 DEGS TOWARD AN AIRMARKED TWR I WAS FAMILIAR WITH. FROM A POINT SSW OF RYY; WHEN I COULD SEE THE FIELD; I FLEW DIRECT TO ENTER A L DOWNWIND TO RWY 27. I LISTENED TO THE RYY AWOS-3 AND THEN CONTACTED TWR APPROX 5 MI SSW. I WAS AWARE OF THE DOBBINS AFB (MGE) THE ENTIRE FLT AND SELECTED MY COURSE TO AVOID THEIR CTLED AIRSPACE. UPON LNDG AT RYY; GND CTL ASKED ME TO CALL DOBBINS TWR. I DID; AND WAS INFORMED THAT A MIL KING AIR AT SOME POINT ON A LONG L DOWNWIND TO RWY 29 RPTED A NEAR MISS WITH THE C152 I WAS FLYING. I NEVER SAW THE KING AIR AND FELT MY RTE OF FLT WAS CLR OF MGE. I HAD MADE THIS FLT MANY TIMES AND GENERALLY FLEW THE RTE I FLEW TODAY. I FLEW S AND W OF THE MGE AIRSPACE; CONTACTED THE RYY AWOS-3 AS SOON AS FTY TWR GAVE ME A FREQ CHANGE. SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING THE AWOS-3; I CONTACTED RYY TWR. IF THE KING AIR WAS FLYING A STANDARD L DOWNWIND TO RWY 29; OUR PATHS MOST LIKELY CROSSED WHEN I WAS APPROX 5 MI SSW OF RYY AND DSNDING FROM 2700 FT TO 2000 FT MSL.
