AIRBUS CREW UNPREPARED AFTER LNDG AT LAX FOR GND OP.
AFTER LNDG ON RWY 25L; I TAXIED OFF THE RWY ON TXWY N AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 25R AS INSTRUCTED. WHEN INSTRUCTED TO CROSS RWY 25R; I FIRST VISUALLY CLRED THE RWY; THEN SPOOLED UP TO CROSS. LAX TWR SEEMED ANNOYED THAT I DID NOT CROSS AS FAST AS THEY WOULD HAVE LIKED. ONCE ACROSS RWY 25R ON TXWY N I HELD AWAITING INSTRUCTIONS FROM LAX GND. THEIR FIRST CALL TO ME WAS GARBLED. WHEN MY FO CALLED BACK FOR TAXI INSTRUCTION; LAX GND MADE A RUDE COMMENT; THEN TOLD US WE NEEDED TO EXPEDITE FOR CLRING ACFT FROM RWY 25R (I LOOKED BEHIND ME AND COULD SEE AN ACFT BEHIND US) AND TO TAKE THE NORTHERN RTE. UNCERTAIN OF EXACTLY WHAT THE 'NORTHERN' RTE WAS; I MADE A L TURN ONTO TXWY B AND MOVED UP TO TXWY P TO ALLOW THE ACFT BEHIND ME ROOM TO CLR RWY 25R. LAX GND CTL ATTITUDE WAS UNNECESSARILY CURT; AND I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE TWR ON A LANDLINE. WE TAXIED TO THE GATE WITHOUT FURTHER HOSTILITIES FROM LAX GND. A CALL WAS MADE TO LAX TWR. AFTER A BRIEF CHAT WITH THE TWR SUPVR; I BELIEVE ALL SIDES FELT THIS EVENT WAS OVER. NOTE: EVEN THOUGH SOME ARPTS HAVE DESIGNATED TAXI RTES; IE; N ETC; A PLT MUST HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT IT 'ON THE GND' BEFORE PROCEEDING. IF GND NEEDS AN EXPEDITIOUS MOVEMENT THEY SHOULD ASSIGN A RTE USING TXWY A IDENTS WHICH ARE USUALLY VISUALLY EVIDENT WITHOUT REFERRING TO A CHART. THIS SIT COULD HAVE BEEN AVERTED IF 1) LESS RADIO CONGESTION; 2) TXWY ASSIGNMENT USING TXWY A IDENT; 3) NO NEED FOR IMMEDIATE MOVEMENT.
