Synopsis

AN ATX FERRY FLT LANDS WITHOUT CLRNC AT PSM; NH.

Narrative

ON A FERRY LEG WITH NO PAX; I WAS LETTING MY FO FLY TO ALLOW HIM TO GAIN EXPERIENCE. I WAS PROVIDING A FAIR AMOUNT OF PROMPTING TO KEEP HIM AWARE OF TRACKING; ETC; ON THE APCH. THE APCH ENDED WITH ME PICKING UP THE APCH LIGHTS AT MINIMUMS. AT THAT TIME I MADE A MENTAL CHK THAT WE SHOWED 3 GREEN LNDG GEAR LIGHTS; RWY WAS CLR; CHKLIST COMPLETE AND CLRED TO LAND; AS I ALWAYS DO. WE LANDED AND ROLLED TO A STOP A BIT BEYOND A TXWY; SO I REQUESTED A 180 DEG TURN TO TAXI BACK; WHICH WAS APPROVED. AFTER WE SWITCHED TO GND CTL ON THE TXWY; WE WERE ASKED BY THE GND CTLR IF WE WERE AWARE THAT WE HAD JUST LANDED WITHOUT A LNDG CLRNC. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THAT; NOR WAS MY FO. THE CTLRS AT PSM DO A GREAT JOB AND I AM NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH THEM. APPARENTLY WHEN SWITCHED TO TWR BY APCH CTL; I MADE THE SWITCH BUT WAS DISTR BY SOMETHING THAT REQUIRED MY ATTN AND FORGOT TO MAKE THE CALL TO PSM TWR. AFTER LNDG; BOTH MY FO AND MYSELF BELIEVED WE HAD MADE THE CALL. I BELIEVE THAT CONSIDERING THE WX AND TIME OF DAY; I SHOULD HAVE FOREGONE THE FLT INSTRUCTION TYPE ENVIRONMENT FOR A SAFER MORE NORMAL ATMOSPHERE WHICH WAS WITHOUT INCREASED WORKLOAD. MEANING I SHOULD HAVE BEEN FLYING THE APCH INSTEAD OF PROVIDING THE PROMPTING WHILE TRYING TO PERFORM THE PNF DUTIES. ANOTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IS THE FACT THAT I WAS BECOMING SICK WITH THE FLU. AFTER LNDG; I WAS LIGHT HEADED; WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE FLU. AT ANY RATE; BOTH MY FO AND MYSELF THOUGHT WE HAD HEARD THE CTLR'S USUAL 'CHK WHEELS DOWN; CLRED TO LAND.'
