A B727-200 IS FORCED TO LAND AT PIE ENRTE TO MDW WHEN THE CABIN ATTENDANT RPTS A LOUD RUSHING SOUND FROM THE L2 DOOR IN CABIN. ZMA; FL.
CLBING THROUGH 13000 FT FROM RSW TO MDW; FLT ATTENDANT CALLED AND INFORMED ME THAT L2 DOOR (L AFT GALLEY DOOR) HAD A LOUD AIR NOISE. NOTICED CABIN CLBING 2000 FPM. REQUESTED CTR TO STOP CLB AT 15000 FT. MAINTAINED CABIN AT 8000 FT. REQUESTED CTR FOR VECTORS TO DUMP 15000 LBS OF FUEL TO REDUCE TO LNDG WT OF 160000 LBS. LANDED AT PIE AFTER FUEL DUMP AND REPAIRED PROB BY MAINT AT PIE. MAINT FOUND BOTTOM OF L2 DOOR NOT SEATED PROPERLY. DOOR WAS SECURED AND LATCHED WITH NO DOOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN COCKPIT PRIOR TO DEP FROM RSW. MAINT AT PIE CLEANED DOOR SEAL. CHKED PRESSURIZATION ON GND AND CLRED WRITE-UP IN LOG. REBOARDED PAX AND DEPARTED FOR MDW WITH NO FURTHER PROBS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 464237: WE NEVER DECLARED AN EMER. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE EVER ILLUMINATED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 464138: DURING THIS WHOLE ORDEAL THERE WAS AN UNRULY PAX IN BACK THAT WAS INTERFERING WITH THE FLT ATTENDANT'S DUTIES. UPON LNDG; WE DEPLANED PAX AND HAD SECURITY MEET THE PAX. MAINT FOUND DOOR HAD NOT BEEN SEATED PROPERLY IN RSW BY GND SVC PERSONNEL. THE UNRULY PAX CALLED THE PRESS IN CHICAGO AND THE WHOLE SAFE; PRECAUTIONARY SIT WAS TURNED INTO A FIASCO. THE MEDIA TURNED ALL FACTS INTO LIES. I THINK THE GND SVC PERSONNEL SHOULD BE 'CHKED OUT' ON THE CLOSING OF THESE DOORS TO PREVENT FUTURE PROBS. UNFORTUNATELY; THE FLT ATTENDANTS COULD NOT WARN US ANY SOONER (ON GND) BECAUSE MOST DOORS HAVE SOME AIR LEAKAGE ON GND UNTIL THE ACFT SEALS BEGIN TO CLOSE DOOR GAP WHEN ACFT IS PRESSURIZING DURING FLT; SO THEY FELT THERE WAS NO PROB. THE CABIN AND COCKPIT CREWS DID EVERYTHING IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER AND THE WHOLE SIT WAS BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION.
