Synopsis

CAPT OF A B727-200 CAUSED JETBLAST DAMAGE TO PARKED ACFT BEHIND THE GATE TO WHICH SHE WAS TURNING INTO FOR PARKING.

Narrative

UPON LNDG IN GRR I INSTRUCTED THE CREW TO SHUT DOWN THE #2 ENG. ACCIDENTALLY THE #1 ENG START LEVER WAS MOVED TO CUT OFF (BY FO). I (THE CAPT TAXIING) WAS UNAWARE OF THE OCCURRENCE. AS WE SLOWLY APCHED THE GATE; POSITIVE XFER OF CTL WAS MADE WITH THE GUIDEMAN. THE INITIAL LEAD-IN LINE AT GRR IS 45 DEGS FROM THE FINAL ACFT POS AT THE GATE. THE INITIAL GUIDEMAN THEN HANDED US OFF TO THE GUIDEMAN STANDING ON THE FINAL LINE. AS WE GOT 1/2 WAY THROUGH THE TURN; THE ACFT BEGAN LOSING MOMENTUM. HE CONTINUED TO GIVE US A HARD R TURN SIGNAL. I ADVANCED THE #1 AND #3 THROTTLES SO AS TO NOT LET THE ACFT STOP. JUST AS IT BEGAN TO STOP; THE SO INFORMED ME THE #1 ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. I THEN ADVANCED THE #2 THROTTLE TO CONTINUE THE TURN. I WAS NEVER GIVEN ANY KIND OF STOP SIGNAL FROM THE GUIDEMAN. THEY NEVER GAVE ME ANY INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROB WITH JETBLAST OCCURRING BEHIND US. THE PAGE STATES THAT STRICT ADHERENCE TO THE GUIDEMEN AT THE GATE IS NECESSARY. AS WE DEPLANED THE ACFT; ONE OF THE GUIDEMEN STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ACFT BEHIND US AND THAT IT WAS BLOWN BY OUR JETBLAST. THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY I KNEW THERE WAS A PROB.
