Synopsis

CABIN ATTENDANT RPT; B767-300; LAX-MIA. TKOF. BURNING; ELECTRICAL SMELL; HOT FLOOR; SMOKE L ENG. RETURN TO LAX.

Narrative

IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF; FLT ATTENDANT #3 CALLED ME AT JUMP SEAT 1L AND INFORMED ME OF A HVY ELECTRICAL SMELL IN MAIN CABIN. FLT ATTENDANT #4 CALLED TO ADVISE ME OF THE SAME; IN ADDITION TO PEOPLE CLAIMING TO SEE SMOKE COMING FROM THE L-HAND SIDE ENG. THE PAX ALSO STATED THE FLOOR IN MAIN CABIN IS GETTING HOT. I CALLED THE CAPT TO ADVISE. HE TOLD ME TO STAY ON THE PHONE. I ADVISED FLT ATTENDANTS #3 AND #4 TO REMAIN ON THE PHONE FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. I TOLD FLT ATTENDANT #8 TO GO BACK TO MAIN CABIN TO VERIFY CONDITIONS. SHE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENG. HOWEVER; A HVY ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL/FLOOR WARM. CAPT ASKED FOR AN UPDATE. I ADVISED HIM. HE TOLD ME THAT WE WERE RETURNING TO LAX. WE HAD A NORMAL LNDG. I ADVISED THE PAX. HE TOLD ME TO BE PREPARED TO EVAC IF FIRE; SMOKE; ETC WAS PRESENT. WE LANDED; PARKED FOR A SHORT WHILE. FIRE RESCUE TEAM EXAMINED ACFT FOR FIRE. NONE WAS PRESENT. WE TAXIED TO THE GATE. WE DEPLANED THE PAX VIA THE JETBRIDGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. WE BOARDED ANOTHER B767 AND TOOK OFF FOR MIA.
