THE NOSE LNDG GEAR COLLAPSES ON A BEECH 76 DUCHESS WHILE MAKING A TOUCH-AND-GO AT RSN; LA.
AT THE TERMINATION OF A TRAINING FLT CONDUCTED AT RSN; A SHORT FIELD APCH AND LNDG WAS PERFORMED WITH THE INTENTION OF A TOUCH-AND-GO. A KING AIR WAS ON L DOWNWIND AND WAS THE ONLY OBSERVED ACFT IN THE AREA BESIDES US. THE SHORT FIELD APCH AND LNDG WAS PERFORMED SUCCESSFULLY; WITH A SMOOTH TOUCHDOWN. THE PF ADDED BRAKES DURING THE ROLLOUT. I PULLED THE FLAP HANDLE TO THE UP POS AND LOOKED TO THE WING TO VERIFY FLAPS COMING UP; WHICH OCCURRED SUCCESSFULLY. I THEN TURNED TO WATCH THE PF ON THE CTLS. AS HE ADDED PWR FOR THE TOUCH-AND-GO; THE NOSEWHEEL COLLAPSED; THE ACFT NOSED OVER AND PROCEEDED TO SKID ON THE NOSE APPROX 150 FT. THE SHIP BEGAN TO SKID L; SO I ADDED R RUDDER; THINKING THAT THERE MAY BE ENOUGH AIRFLOW TO PROVIDE RUDDER EFFECTIVENESS. WHEN WE CAME TO A STOP; I PULLED BOTH MIXTURES; BOTH THROTTLES; AND SHUT OFF THE AUX PUMPS AND THE MAGNETOS. I THEN CALLED THE KING AIR ON FINAL TO GO AROUND; AND SHUT OFF THE MASTER AND ALTERNATORS. AT THIS TIME; I RECHKED THE GEAR HANDLE POS; WHICH WAS DOWN. NOTE: A GUMPS CHK WAS PERFORMED 3 TIMES DURING THE PATTERN; WITH 3 GREEN SHOWING. ALSO; AT THE TIME OF GEAR FAILURE; I WAS WATCHING THE PF ON THE CTLS. ONE HAND WAS ON THE THROTTLES; THE OTHER HAND WAS ON THE YOKE.
