Synopsis

A CL65 ON APCH AT 3000 FT; WHEN SWITCHING FROM ENG TO APU PNEUMATICS; THE ACFT FOR A SECOND TIME DURING THE DAY WAS FILLED WITH FUMES.

Narrative

ON ARR INTO CVG FROM ZZZ; #1 TO LAND ON A DOWNWIND TO BASE IN CVG RWY 36R VISUAL APCH. CAPT XFERRED ACFT PACKS TO THE APU BLEEDS. WITHIN 5-10 SECONDS; AN ODOR WAS DETECTED JUST LIKE PREVIOUS ODOR ON THE PREVIOUS FLT INTO ZZZ. ACFT WAS AROUND 3000 FT MSL. CAPT IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF ALL PACKS AND BLEEDS AND THE ODOR STARTED TO CEASE IN COCKPIT. ACFT WAS NOW WITHIN 5 MI OF THE ARPT AND CLRED FOR THE APCH (VISUAL RWY 36R). CREW AGREED TO CONTINUE APCH AND LNDG. FLT ATTENDANT CALLED THE COCKPIT AND SAID THE ODOR WAS BACK AGAIN LIKE PREVIOUS FLT. CAPT BRIEFED THAT ACFT WOULD BE LNDG NORMALLY WITHIN A MIN OR SO. A NORMAL LNDG OCCURRED AND THE ACFT CLRED THE RWY TO THE RAMP. AFTER LNDG CHKS WERE DONE AND FO CALLED MAINT CTR AND RAMP TWR TO NOTIFY OF SIT; APPROX 1/2 WAY ACROSS THE RAMP THE FLT ATTENDANT CALLED AND TOLD THE FO THAT SHE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE DUE TO THE ODOR. THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC BTWN US AND THE GATE. WE DETERMINED THAT WE WOULD BE AT THE GATE MOMENTARILY TO SAFELY DEPLANE THE PAX. TAXI WAS EXPEDITED. AT THE GATE THE COCKPIT DOOR WAS OPENED AND THE ODOR WAS DETECTED. PAX QUICKLY DEPLANED THE ACFT AND NO PAX OR CREW REQUIRED OR REQUESTED ANY MEDICAL ATTN. MAINT ARRIVED AT THE ACFT AND THE ACFT WAS WRITTEN UP.
