Synopsis

CABIN ATTENDANT RPT; S80; PDX-DFW. WOMAN OUT OF CTL; REFUSED TO SIT IN ASSIGNED SEAT BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T RECLINE. SHE LAID ON FLOOR BLOCKING JUMP SEAT. CAPT INTERVENED. POLICE ARE TOO LATE TO APPREHEND HER.

Narrative

WE HAD AN OUT OF CTL FEMALE; OVER THE FACT THAT SHE SAT IN FRONT OF A WINDOW EXIT AND HER SEAT WOULD NOT RECLINE. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT; SHE RANTED AND RAVED AND REFUSED TO SIT THERE FOR A 3 HR FLT. SHE LOOKED FOR ANOTHER SEAT AFTER I TOLD HER WE WERE FULL. THEN SHE GOT A BLANKET AND LAID ON THE FLOOR IN THE AFT PART OF COACH; BLOCKING MY JUMP SEAT; AND THE ONE LAVATORY. PEOPLE HAD TO STEP OVER HER TO USE THE OTHER LAVATORY. SHE WAS LOUD AND OUT OF CTL. THE CAPT TALKED TO HER. SHE FINALLY WENT TO HER SEAT; THEN PROMPTLY FELL ASLEEP FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT IN THE SEAT SHE COMPLAINED SO MUCH ABOUT. SHE YELLED; SAID WE WERE CRAZY AND RACIST; AND THAT WE COULD THROW HER OFF THE PLANE; BUT SHE WOULDN'T GO BACK TO HER SEAT (UNTIL AFTER THE CAPT TALKED TO HER). HE TOLD US TO LET HIM KNOW IF SHE WAS ANY FURTHER PROB AFTER THAT. THE POLICE WERE SUPPOSED TO MEET THE FLT; BUT THEY SHOWED UP AFTER SHE WAS GONE TO HER NEXT FLT. OUR SUPVR AND THE POLICE WENT TO HER XB00 MORNING MIAMI FLT; BUT FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND; DID NOT SAY A WORD TO HER; AND LET HER GO ON HER WAY WITH NO ACTION AT ALL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT THE WOMAN GOT UP FROM HER SEAT AND FOLLOWED THE FLT ATTENDANTS WORKING THE LIQUOR CART; LOOKING FOR AN EMPTY SEAT. WHEN SHE COULDN'T FIND ONE; SHE DELIBERATELY LAID DOWN ON THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE RPTR'S JUMP SEAT; YELLING OBSCENITIES; AND DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO GO TO SLEEP. SHE MADE EVERYONE HAVE TO STEP OVER HER. THE CAPT CAME OUT OF THE COCKPIT FOR 5-10 MINS TO TALK TO HER AND GET HER TO GO BACK TO HER ASSIGNED SEAT. THE CAPT CALLED FOR SECURITY OR THE POLICE TO MEET THE FLT 1 1/2 HRS BEFORE LNDG AND THE POLICE SHOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH WARNING TO MEET THE FLT. THE FLT ATTENDANTS TOLD THE SUPVR THAT THEY DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO PRESS CHARGES; BUT WANTED TO PREVENT THE WOMAN FROM GETTING ON HER NEXT FLT; OR AT LEAST; HAVE THE POLICE LECTURE HER TO TEACH HER A LESSON.
