B727 CREW EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT LGA GND CTLR ISSUING UNPROFESSIONAL FLIPPANT REMARKS OVER THE RADIO.

Narrative

GIVEN CLEARANCE TO TAXI TO RWY 13 (LGA) HOLD SHORT RWY 4/22 AT TXWY F. WE DID SO. WITH TRAFFIC LNDG RWY 22 WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO EXPEDITE ACROSS RWY 22 TO TXWY E. I EXPEDITED MY TAXI ACROSS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE FOR AN ACFT WEIGHING 170;000 POUNDS WITHOUT POSING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE CTLR HAD EVIDENTLY MISJUDGED THE TIMING OF THE ARRIVING ACFT AND THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE A FULLY LADEN B727 TO CROSS RWY 22. OF NOTE; TXWY F IS ALSO SET BACK APPROX 30 FT FROM THE RWY. THE LNDG ACFT EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. AFTER CROSSING THE RWY HE MADE A FLIPPANT REMARK THAT I MOVED TOO SLOWLY AND SHOULD HAVE GONE STRAIGHT ACROSS ON TXWY F. THIS WOULD HAVE MADE NO DIFFERENCE IN THE GAR. I REMINDED HIM I DID EXACTLY AS INSTRUCTED. THE CTLR THEN SAID TO PROCEED AHEAD ON TXWY E; TURN RIGHT ON TXWY CC AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY G. AS I APPROACHED TXWY BB I DID; VERY SLIGHTLY; BEGIN A TURN TOWARDS TXWY BB-- NOT MORE THAN A COUPLE OF FT WHEN MY FO REMINDED ME TO GO TO TXWY CC. I DID SO. THIS CONSTITUTED ANOTHER FLIPPANT REMARK FROM THE CTLR. 'ACR X ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR ALPHABET?' THIS COMMENT WAS NOT ONLY TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR BUT WAS DISTRACTING AND THOROUGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. HE THEN MADE AN UNSOLICITED REMARK THAT IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT CALL THE TWR. I TOOK HIS INITIALS AND THE LGA TWR NUMBER. OF FURTHER NOTE; I HAVE HEARD THIS CTLR; ON THAT EVENING AND OTHER OCCASIONS; MAKE UNSOLICITED; DERISIVE; AND UNPROFESSIONAL REMARKS TO OTHER ACFT. IT IS MY OPINION HE HAS AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM. HE SHOULD BE COUNSELED AS TO PROPER COMMUNICATION ETIQUETTE POINTING OUT THAT SARCASTIC AND DERISIVE COMMENTS ARE DISTRACTING AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS.
