A B727-200 CAPT EXPRESSES DISAPPROVAL OF THE BEHAVIOR OF THE FLT ATTENDANT IN CHARGE DURING THE FLT AND ON ARR DURING AN EMER EVAC.

Narrative

HAVE FLOWN WITH FLT ATTENDANT EMPLOYEE WXVX BEFORE AND HAVE WRITTEN HIM UP FOR EXCESSIVE PA'S AND PA'S NOT REQUIRED BY HIS MANUAL. BRIEFED HIM NOT TO DO IT ON THIS FLT. HE STILL MADE SEVERAL PA'S ABOUT ALTS AND MINS REMAINING TO LNDG. IT IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERGES ON SAFETY IN ZZZ. DUE TO PAX NOT KNOWING WHO IS MAKING PA'S. AT CASE ARRIVAL IN ZZZ ENGINEER WAS DOING HIS OVERNIGHT WALKAROUND AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE R WHEEL WELL AREA. HE RAN BACK TO THE COCKPIT AND INFORMED ME AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED FOR THE FIRE FIGHTING EQUIP AND COMMANDED AN EVAC OF THE ACFT. THERE WERE ONLY A FEW PAX -- 5 TO 6 -- ON THE ACFT AND THEY USED THE MOBILE STAIRS AND I ALSO INSTRUCTED THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO USE THE SAME EXIT. THEY WERE ALREADY IN THE FRONT OF THE CABIN. THEY STATED THAT THE ACFT WAS CLR OF PAX AND THAT THEY WERE THE LAST ONES ON THE ACFT. WE SHUT DOWN THE APU AND LEFT THE ACFT FROM THE TIME THAT THE FE INFORMED ME TO THE TIME THAT WE SHUT DOWN THE APU AND LEFT THE ACFT WAS 15-20 SECONDS. MYSELF AND THE OTHER COPLT CREW RAN TO THE ODOR. THE ARFF ARRIVED WITHIN MINS AND I INFORMED THEM OF THE SIT AND THEY INSPECTED THE WHEEL WELL. MAINT AND THE ARFF'S TOOK CTL OF THE SIT. I REALIZED THAT THE PURSER HAD ALREADY LEFT FOR THE CREW VAN BEFORE I COMMANDED THE EVAC. ARFF SAID IT WAS SAFE TO RE-ENTER THE ACFT AND RETRIEVE OUR BAGS. MAINT PUT GND PWR ON THE ACFT.
