CARJ CREW; WHILE PUSHING BACK; WAS STRUCK BY TAXIING ACFT.
WE WERE BEING PUSHED BACK FROM GATE AT ORD. DUE TO CONSTRUCTION; WE HAD TO BE PUSHED ONTO TXWY A. THE PLAN WAS TO PUSH S TOWARD TXWY A; THEN W PARALLEL TO TXWY A; THEN N INTO FOX ALLEY BTWN CONCOURSES F AND E. BEFORE PUSH; WE GOT CLRNC FROM SIGNATURE RAMP; THEN FROM ORD INBOUND GND. GND TOLD US TO GIVE WAY TO ANOTHER ACFT PASSING BEHIND US ON TXWY A. WE WAITED FOR HIM TO PASS; THEN PUSHED. NO TAXIING ACFT WERE VISIBLE WHEN WE STARTED OUR PUSH. AS WE WERE BEING PUSHED W; PARALLEL TO TXWY A; AN MD80; TAXIING RAPIDLY W ON TXWY A; HIT OUR R WINGLET WITH HIS R WINGTIP. OUR WING WALKER TRIED TO GET HIS ATTN BEFORE THE COLLISION; TO NO AVAIL. THE MD80 WAS APPARENTLY UNAWARE OF THE COLLISION; AND CONTINUED ON. ORD LATER CONTACTED THEM AND THEY DID NOT TAKE OFF. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: DUAL GND FREQS. WE WERE CLRED TO PUSH INTO TXWY A BY INBOUND GND. SINCE THE MD80 WAS TAXIING FOR TKOF; THEY WERE PROBABLY ON OUTBOUND GND. I DON'T KNOW IF GND TOLD THEM TO LOOK FOR US. CONSTRUCTION FORCING PUSHED ACFT ONTO AN ACTIVE TXWY. CONTINUED USE OF GATE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. EXCESSIVE TAXI SPD BY MD80; COMBINED WITH INATTN. NOTE THAT WE WERE NOT PUSHED INTO HIS PATH. WE WERE OVERTAKEN; OVERLOOKED; AND OVERRUN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 499779: ON CTRLINE OF TXWY A; ABEAM CONCOURSE F; DEICED. TAXI OUT INSTRUCTIONS TXWY A; TXWY A6; TXWY J; SHORT OF RWY 9L FOR RWY 14L. TAXIING PAST CONCOURSE F ON CTRLINE TXWY A; VIEWED CRJ PUSHING BACK WITH WING WALKER GUIDEMAN WANDS UP IN AIR IN ALL CLR POS. CONTINUED ON TXWY A TO TXWY A8 WHERE STOPPED BECAUSE OF ARPT DEICE VEHICLES. APPARENTLY; CRJ WAS PUSHED BACK FAR ENOUGH TO ALLEGEDLY CONTACT OUR R WINGTIP. REQUESTED TO GO TO TXWY A8 TO CONTINUE TAXI TO RWY 14L; BUT WERE TOLD TO CONTINUE TO TXWY A5 AND GO TO PENALTY BOX FOR POSSIBLE PROB. PULLED OVER IN BOX; PARKED BRAKES; AND QUERIED ATC ABOUT PROB. GND CTLR STATED MAY HAVE CLIPPED COMMUTER ACFT. O'HARE CITY VEHICLES SHOWED UP TO INSPECT; THEN WENT FOR MAINT TO INSPECTION. COMPANY MAINT SHOWED UP AND REQUESTED FURTHER INVESTIGATION. RETURNED TO GATE. CHKLISTS COMPLETED; SECURED ACFT. MAINT OBSERVED AESTHETIC SCUFF MARK ON OUTBOARD LEADING EDGE SLAT OR R WING. ACFT HAD 30 PAX; NO INJURIES; PAX CONTINUED ON TO DEST.
