Synopsis

B727 CAPT PASSES HOLD SHORT LINE OF THE PARALLEL RWY AFTER TURNING OFF RWY AND IS CLRED ACROSS WITHOUT DELAY.

Narrative

A FLT ATTENDANT CALLED THE COCKPIT ON THE INTERPHONE TO RPT A NOISE DURING ROLLOUT AFTER LNDG ON RWY 27L AT PHL. I NOTIFIED THE CAPT OF THE NOISE BRIEFLY AFTER EXITING THE RWY AND SUBSEQUENTLY CONTINUED THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST. UPON COMPLETING THE AFTER LNDG CHK; THE COCKPIT DOOR WAS OPENED. A NORMAL PROC. AFTER WHICH THE FIRST CLASS FLT ATTENDANT ENTERED THE COCKPIT AND BEGAN TO EXPLAIN THE APPARENT 'NOISE.' I BELIEVE THIS WAS ABOUT THE TIME THE CAPT COMPLETED A NBOUND TURN ON TXWY W; BTWN RWY 27L&R. I LOOKED FORWARD AND THE CAPT STARTED TO QUESTION WHERE THE HOLD SHORT LINE WAS. I DID NOT PERSONALLY HEAR THE TWR/GND CLR OUR ACFT ACROSS RWY 27R; THE CAPT SPOKE WITH THE CTLR WHO SAID WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS WITHOUT DELAY AFTER IT APPEARED WE MAY NOT HOLD SHORT. I BELIEVE THE FLT ATTENDANT ENTERED THE COCKPIT AND DISTR THE FLC AT THE TIME THE ACFT SHOULD HAVE STOPPED SHORT OF THE RWY. I AM NEW AT MY CURRENT AIRLINE WHOSE PRACTICE IT IS TO OPEN THE COCKPIT DOOR AFTER LNDG. MY PAST EXPERIENCE WAS TO LEAVE THE COCKPIT DOOR CLOSED UNTIL ALL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETE AT THE GATE; SO YOU DO NOT HAVE THE UNNECESSARY DISTRS FROM THE PAX COMPARTMENT.
