AN AFT GALLEY DOOR IS UNEXPECTEDLY OPENED BY CATERING AFTER A HURRIED LOADING OF PAX AND CARGO FROM AN ABORTED FLT. EVAC SLIDE PACKET FALLS ONTO CATERING TRUCK WITHOUT OPENING AT DFW; TX.
CAPT AND I ABORTED THE FIRST ACFT FOR A HYD TEMP LIGHT; AND CHANGED TO ANOTHER ACFT. THERE WERE 2 GATE AGENTS -- THE ORIGINAL AND ANOTHER OLDER MAN. THERE WAS A DELAY DUE TO FUELING THE NEW ACFT; WHILE BOARDING PAX. THE GND CREW WAS ALSO INSIDE. THE GATE AGENT WAS PRESSING THE FOLKS A BIT; BUT NOT TOO BAD. WE WERE LATE. WHEN PAX WERE BOARDED AND FUELING COMPLETE; THE AGENT JUST CLOSED THE DOOR AND BEGAN TO REMOVE THE JETBRIDGE. WE COMPLETED THE DOOR ANNUNCIATOR CHK AND GOTTEN CABIN READY. THE CATERING TRUCK HAD COMPLETED LOADING IN THE AFT GALLEY AND HAD KNOCKED ON THE DOOR THEN LOCKED IT AND PULLED AWAY. THEN; JUST AS WE WERE ABOUT TO START; THE AFT GALLEY DOOR WAS OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. FLT ATTENDANT #1 HAD ALREADY GIVEN AN 'ARM DOORS' TO THE CABIN. THE AFT GALLEY SLIDE DROPPED ONTO THE CATERING PLATFORM AND LUCKILY DID NOT INFLATE. IF IT HAD; THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURY TO THE CATERING WORKER AND EQUIP. THE CAPT AND I QUESTIONED THE CREW AND THE BACK FLT ATTENDANTS WERE SURE THAT CATERING HAD CLRED THE DOOR AND PULLED AWAY. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE CREW DID ANYTHING INCORRECTLY. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PROMPTED THE CATERING TRUCK TO COME BACK AFTER CLRING. I HAD EVEN TURNED ON THE ROTATING BEACON. WE WERE JUST WAITING FOR THE GUIDE MAN TO HOOK UP. I INCLUDED SAFETY BUT NO INJURY OCCURRED; BUT THE POTENTIAL WAS THERE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM CAN 508193: PREVIOUSLY THE AGENT HAD TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR EARLY WHILE CATERING WAS STILL SVCING ACFT.
