Synopsis

AN AIRBUS 310 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE #2 REVERSER DEFERRED AS INOP PER THE MEL. INBOUND LOG RPT STATED #1 ENG REVERSER INOP.

Narrative

FLT XYZ ACFT A ARRIVED AT XB56Z. I PROCEEDED WITH THE OUTSIDE ARR INSPECTION; AND MY PARTNER HANDLED THE COCKPIT CHK AND MET THE CREW. AFTER I FINISHED THE EXTERIOR CHK; I INFORMED MY PARTNER THAT THE OUTSIDE WAS GOOD. FLT YYZ ACFT B ARRIVED AT XB06. I STARTED THE COCKPIT CHK AND THE INITIAL WALKAROUND. THIS PLANE WAS TO REMAIN ALL DAY. MY PARTNER WAS DOING THE ENG INSPECTION AND OIL SVC. I FINISHED THE INITIAL ARR INSPECTION ON ACFT B AND WHEN I BROUGHT ACFT B'S LOGBOOK TO THE TRUCK; I SAW THE LOGBOOK FROM ACFT A. (IT IS AN OUTBOUND AND NORMALLY THE LOGBOOK WOULD REMAIN ONBOARD.) I SAW THERE WAS A WRITE-UP ON #1 REVERSER. I WENT AND GOT MY TOOLS AND PROCEEDED TO DEACTIVATE #2 REVERSER. MY PARTNER HAD BROUGHT BOTH LOGBOOKS TO THE OFFICE. I WAS VERY CAREFUL TO GET EVERYTHING RIGHT SINCE I HEARD SOME HORROR STORIES ABOUT DEACTIVATING THE AIRBUS REVERSER. PER MEL MXP 78-1; MADE SURE I HAD ALL PLUGS CAPPED AND SECURED AND LOCK PLATES WERE TURNED ON THE CDU'S AUX DRIVE PADS. THE RED DEACTIVATION PLATES WERE INSTALLED AND ENG/REVERSER CTL BREAKER WAS RESET; CLOSED THE COWL; CONFIRMED THAT THE THROTTLE CTL LEVER HAD FULL TRAVEL. RECHKED COWL; WENT TO THE OFFICE. MY PARTNER WAS ENTERING THE ITEM IN THE COMPUTER. THE CAPT CAME WHILE THIS WAS GOING ON. NONE OF US CAUGHT THE MISTAKE.
